Did You Know...

... that CSC Singularity posted their first outdoor scores?

CSC Singularity at the Indoor Cloud League event
posted Jul 2nd, 2024 - CSC Singularity appeared on one of the NSL News leaderboards the first time after participating at one of the Indoor Cloud League events of the ICL Midwest team, now powered by CSC Constellation XP, AA/Intermediate Class winner of the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2024.

Both 4-way teams are home at the Chicagoland Skydiving Center, and the NSL News reported on April 25th that the new A Class team would benefit from the Constellation experiences. Singularity had not attended any indoor or outdoor 4-way competition in April, while it was probably only a matter of time when this would happen.

The complete CSC Singularity lineup was back for the May event of the ICL Midwest team, after posting the RRR Class highscore in April with substitute and player-coach Katie Healy in the lineup. Then they performed five of the six Indoor Cloud League sequences with their complete lineup and contributed the 22-pointer highscore for the R Class sequence in May. CSC Constellation XP members Natalie Rodriguez, Russell Bayuk and Brad Strock hosted the Indoor Cloud League's June event at iFLY Naperville last month instead of iFLY Rosemont at previous events. It was a new approach, with Friday as the event day instead of a Tuesday, and closer to the area's skydiving centers.

A/Beginner Class awards at the USPA Nationals 2023
CSC Singularity performed only three of the six sequences in June while adding a second highscore to their contribution for the ICL Midwest team. CSC Constellation XP contributed once again their highscores for the two Open Class sequences (AAA/AA). Together the two CSC teams combined for 69 ICL points of the June total (89).

In the meantime, CSC Singularity have also completed their first outdoor competition. They completed nine rounds of the Cloud Games and finished two points behind Toxic Intrusive Thoughts from Texas (49 - 51). CSC Singularity were actually five points ahead of the team in 1st place (49 - 44) and missed a score for Round 10.

The NSL News had pointed out on June 24th that the A Class run for USPA medals has already begun months before Round 1 at this year's USPA Nationals. The June 14 weekend alone featured some of the A Class teams who may be in medal contention in September. CSC Singularity's first meet average (5.4) was promising enough. Last year's A/Beginner Class bronze medalist at the USPA Nationals, Funderbirds from Florida, had started with a 3.7 average in the same category at the Shamrock Showdown in March 2023.

The XP Falcons had launched their team career with a 4.9 average in the AA/Intermediate Class competition of the Summer Classic 2023, as the NSL News reported yesterday. Two months later they won silver medals at the USPA Nationals 2023 in the A/Beginner Class.

The timing is almost exactly the same this year, and the first CSC Singularity scores are setting the Midwest team up in the same situation as the previous A/Beginner Class medal winners.

The closer look at this category's results of the 2024 season in the United States confirms that the run for USPA medals has begun and will once again and most likely be competitive this September. Florida team AirGo is currently in the top spot, after increasing the meet average meet by meet. However, several other teams have shown performances on a very similar scoring level. Last year's winner CitiZens cannot come back in the same category, and XP Falcons. last year's silver medalists, have committed to AA/Intermediate Class competition this year. CSC Singularity may continue to benefit from CSC Constellation XP outdoor experiences in the pursuit of USPA medal positions.
