posted Jul 25th, 2024 - Six teams used last weekend's opportunity for competition practice before the USPA Nationals 2024, which begin with 4-way competition at the end of the second September week. Skydive Spaceland's Pre-Nationals was the second scheduled meet of the Texas Skydiving League this year. Teams from Texas had been ready to launch their 2024 season at the end of April, together with teams of the Florida Skydiving League at Skydive Sebastian.

Unfortunately, TSL Director Scott Latinis reported from San Marcos by then that bad weather did not allow any competition rounds on the whole meet weekend. The weather in Texas was much better last weekend when three of the teams completed all ten rounds.

Powered by Moonjuice, the only AAA Class team on the leaderboard, had enough good weather at Skydive Arizona, where they applied last weekend's competition draw. The Arizona Skydiving League had its own 4-way activities years ago, last time in 2021, when Powered by Moonjuice member Eric Daniel competed with Kombucha Punch.

Powered by Moonjuice competed in the AAA/Advanced Class of the USPA Nationals 2023, and the same lineup seems to be ready to attend thus year's national championship, as well. They were in contention for medal positions last year and finished in 5th place.

4Action with coach Mikhail Markine
The next medal contender on last weekend's leaderboard completed their ten rounds in Clewiston, Florida. 4Action was introduced earlier by the NSL News as a potential medal contender in the AA/Intermediate Class this year. They completed the team's third outdoor 2024 competition and finished close to the first 10+ average.

Only the five point deductions due to "camera angle / grip visibility" after the exit kept 4Action short of a 10.0 average. Team videographer Joe Vianna was not available, and Rob Metenhoffer replaced him on camera for the ten competition rounds, and for the other training jumps throughout a 3-day camp with Arizona Airspeed member Mikhail Markine coaching 4Action in Clewiston.

AA Class teams Lattes & Cigars and Just4Fun competed in Texas and were tied after six rounds, seven points behind 4Action in Florida. 4Action aim at showing their first 2-digit average at the USPA Nationals, after another training camp in Florida and a few more jumps right before this year's national championships at Skydive Chicago in September.

A/Beginner Class awards at the USPA Nationals 2023
Toxic Intrusive Thoughts, with player-coach Demo McDonnell in the lineup, were also not new to an A Class leaderboard this year. The Texas team had started with a 5.1 average on home turf at the local part of the Cloud Games in June, where teams complete the meet rounds at their place of choice.

The 5.1 average in June had set them up already as a top contender in the A/Beginner Class. CSC Singularity had won the category with the higher meet average after their nine rounds at the Chicagoland Skydiving Center.

Last weekend's 8.6 average stands for the highest outdoor scoring level in the A Class this year, and Toxic Intrusive Thoughts have become the top contender for USPA A/Beginner Class medals in September. CitiZens won USPA gold with 10.3 last year, XP Falcons silver with 9.9 and Funderbirds bronze with their 8.9 average. XP Falcons have moved up to AA/Intermediate Class competition, where Demo McDonnell placed 2nd with Spaceland Toxic last year.
