Nine of the 13 listed national 4-way Open Class teams competed at the previous outdoor world championship in Eloy 2022, as well, and six of them return with the same lineups two years later. NMP PCH HayaBusa, Agera and Out Of The Blue have new team members.
All of the returning teams, including HayaBusa and OOTB, can naturally be expected to confirm their ranking positions of 2022 or improve them. Chimera, who took the meaningful 5th place in Eloy for the British delegation, will be replaced by the experienced Apex lineup. It will still be very challenging for the new British national 4-way team to defend the same finishing position successfully. The currently strongest contenders for the 5th place, Echochamber (Sweden), Airbus (Germany), Agera (Norway) and Papea (Spain) were close to Chimera in 2022, and two more years with the same or similar lineups will not make it any easier for Apex. In fact, the new British national team may have to work hard to make the Top 10.

Airbus and Agera both will be facing the potentially strongest contender for the same position though. Sweden's Echochamber were only three points behind Chimera (185 - 188) in Eloy 2022, and they did not compete in Norway last year, where Airbus finished in 5th place of the national 4-way Open Class teams. Spain's military Papea lineup were even closer in 6th place (186 - 188) and they will most likely be in contention once again.
Out Of The Blue are probably tired of trying to make the Top 10, and the new lineup may be able to join the tight competition for the 5th place with a good meet. Netunos from Brazil just posted a 16.9 average at their national outdoor championship and are probably in the same situation as OOTB. There is also a question mark behind the 4-way Open Class team from China who finished in 6th place at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024. The same team could also be closer to the 5th place rather than just making the Top 10.

The young French 4-way Open Class team, the Aethers, reduced the distance of 47 points in Eloy (214 - 261) to 21 last year in Norway (246 - 267) where they jumped from 4th to 2nd place in 4-way Open. Despite Tom Mattoni's injury break after the Shamrock Showdown 2024 the Aethers are currently standing at a 26.3 average after seven rounds at the French national outdoor championship this week.
The Qatar Tigers, bronze medalists in 2022, are in serious danger of losing their medal position, as it already happened in Norway last year. The French Aethers took back the 2nd place, and NMP PCH HayaBusa outscored the Qatar Tigers at their last competition with Michele Silvi.
The Belgian lineup has changed in a few different ways ever since, as the NSL News covered comprehensively. New member Ray Lodens will attend his first outdoor world championship and has to try defending the 3rd place of NMP PCH HayaBusa at the world cup last year. Former HayaBusa member Andy Grauwels, on the other side as Qatar Tigers' coach, plans to bring back his team to FAI medal rankings. One of the four top teams will leave North Carolina without a set of 4-way Open Class medals...
