Did You Know...

... that two Czech Panthers have advanced to outdoor competition?

RRR Class awards at the Czech Outdoor Nationals
posted Aug 31st, 2024 - The combined leaderboard of all events on the last August weekend confirms the steep progression of the Czech national 4-way champions, Skywalkers Junior, which the NSL News covered with the update on August 27th. No team on the AAA Class leaderboard was able to get anywhere close to the young Czech 4-way competitors.

The competition of the five Czech teams on the AAA and RRR leaderboards included an indirect reunion of the previous Czech national 4-way team, HF Flying Circus, who did not continue with outdoor training and competition after the FAI Outdoor World Championships 2022 and had their last indoor meet at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023.

The NSL News mentioned in the same update after this year's outdoor championship that five former Czech national 4-way champions tried to offer at least a challenge for the old and new Czech 4-way champions. The Cirkus 2.0 lineup included two former HF Flying Circus members (Dagmar Brechlerova, Martina Vavackova) and team videographer David Brabec. The HF Flying Circus lineup was actually complete, as former tail Jakub Klapka was filming his new team, Skywalkers Junior, last weekend. Last and not least, Flying Circus inside center Lukas Kaderabek filled the open outside center slot for Relative Team at the national outdoor championship.

Complete Panthers indoor lineup
Czech 4-way godfather Jan Klapka could also proudly celebrate the next transition of a few of his 4-way junior school graduates to outdoor competition. The Panthers have been one of the many 4-way junior teams that Jan Klapka has generated over the years. The team started in January 2020, and the lineup has changed several times.

Pavla Mlynkova, Anetka Parizkova, Elen Zielinska and Mikolas Velicka have been training and competing together indoors for the Panthers since 2022, and under the guidance of former Flying Circus member Martina Vavackova.

Elen Zielinska and Mikolas Velicka eventually completed their outdoor training and were ready for their first competition at the national championship.

They needed two team mates, and Skywalkers Junior sometimes have one of their five active team members available for other tasks. They competed with Filip Lukavec, Antonin Ondracek, Krystof Rulf, Martin Stransky and Jakub Klapka on camera last weekend, and Michal Mikolasek could be the player-coach for the Panthers. The Panthers still needed a 4th team member, and they invited Patricia Herdicky from Slovakia to complete the lineup.

Moving on: Martina Vavackova with Teiwaz in Germany 2023
The NSL News reported on 16 August 2023 that Patricia Herdicky had successfully transitioned to outdoor training. She was a member of the Slovak 4-way Junior team SDU GenZ who competed at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023.

She connected with Panthers coach Martina Vavackova and continued with outdoor training in Most, Czech Republic, where Jan Klapka is running his 4-way junior outdoor school. There she met Elen Zielinska and Mikolas Velicka who were ready for their first outdoor competition, as well.

Skywalkers Junior member Michal Mikolasek was happy to be the player-coach for the meet, and the outdoor lineup of the Panthers was complete for the national championship, and they easily took the 1st place on the Rookie Class leaderboard.

The Panthers' complete lineup will continue with their indoor training and competition, and Jan Klapka has two new and young Czech outdoor competitors on his way to follow the example of Skywalkers Junior. Coach Martina Vavackova moves on, as well. She has traveled to Germany for her next competition, the German national outdoor championship where she re-connects with her Teiwaz team mates of the same event last year.
