Did You Know...

... that GKXP8 lead by 61 points after Round 7?

posted Sep 15th, 2024 - The NSL News was covering the German Outdoor Nationals 2024 comprehensively and serviced the German website at the same time. The Teiwaz Cirkus also had a reunion, and there was not much room for additional updates.

It did not get much easier after the transition from Europe back to the United States, where the USPA National Championship 2024 deserved all the attention. The 4-way competition slipped by quickly, and the beginning of the 8-way competition finally offered the opportunity to recover with NSL TV Unfiltered and at least catch up with scores and basic information.

The aftermath of the major event at Skydive Chicago will continue as usual and go back to the 4-way competition and all its exciting events after the 8-way competition will be completed.

Neither the 4-way nor the 8-way competition was expected to generate any thrilling battles for the respective top spots, as Arizona Airspeed and GKXP8 are miles ahead of any domestic opposition. It was a very different situation compared to the 8-way competition in Germany, where Operation Adler and Airbus 8-way battled for the tickets to North Carolina and the FAI Outdoor World Championships 2024 where the 8-way bronze medals are very much in reach for either team.

NSL TV Unfiltered: GKXP8
Mike Connors and Jesse Stahler
GKXP8 are 61 points ahead of Prison 9 after seven rounds at Skydive Chicago, and the winning margin will probably be the largest one in the history of 8-way competition in the United States. The distance to the 2nd place at the upcoming world championship at Crystal Coast in North Carolina will be smaller, even though the Qatar Tigers will still have no chance to get anywhere close to GKXP8.

The NSL News was asking GKXP8 members Mike Connors and Jeshua Stahler how they deal with the situation. Their team is aiming at the highest meet average in 8-way history, and it is difficult to focus on peak performance if there is no serious opposition and pressure. The FAI gold medals alone are not enough reward for the best 8-way team in the world who have the potential to set new 8-way standards.

There is still exciting competition on the 8-way Open Class leaderboard, as Bra Nok XP and Craig Girard's Mandatory Fun! 8-way team are battling for USPA bronze medals. They are tied with 88 points after Round 7 after exchanging blows round by round.

Prison 9 will probably move up from 3rd to 2nd place this year, as Arizona Airspeed has not recruited a separate 8-way lineup this year. It has been a long time since Airspeed did not have an 8-way team at USPA Nationals. Prison 9 started as Rhythm 8 with 4th places in 2016 and 2017 and became Prison 9 with another 4th place in 2021. Then they won their first USPA bronze medals in 2022 and 2023. Now they will probably follow up with the next step and USPA silver medals.
