Did You Know...

... that the ESL Championship features a high-profile and colorful AAA Class field?

BENELUX Championship 2024
posted Sep 21st, 2024 - This weekend features the comeback of the ESL Championship, as the NSL News reported on June 20th. Another preview on July 19th added that the Qatar delegation will send the Lions and the Cheetahs to the event that is being hosted once again by the Fallschirmsportzentrum Saar (FSZ Saar).

The last European Skydiving League Championship was held in Spa 2019, the previous one in Saarlouis 2018. It is an annual event that offers teams the opportunity of an international high-profile competition who cannot attend the FAI world cups or world championships.

However, there is at least one team at FSZ Saar this weekend that will also travel soon to Crystal Coast in North Carolina for the FAI Outdoor World Championships 2024, as the NSL News reported yesterday. The German national 4-way Open Class team, Airbus Oceanside Illertissen, will get their last competition test before another training camp at Skydive DeLand at the end of the month.

New Ayro lineup at the BENELUX Championship
The BENELUX Championship 2024 was also the event where Belgian 4-way team AYRO competed for the first time with their new lineup. The NSL News had reported on June 14th that former Jetmax member Steven Lopes replaces Kevin Bruyninckx.

Ayro finished at the BENELUX Championship 2024 on the level where they had performed with their previous lineup. This weekend's ESL Championship will feature Ayro with the same lineup at their second competition, and the NSL News expects the Belgian team to stay close to Qatar Cheetahs and Skywalkers Junior.

Ayro also teamed up with three ISR FireFlash members for a pickup 8-way team, where David Grauwels replaced Sven Ibens. Desper8 finished with an impressive 10.8 average on the 8-way leaderboard with two more Dutch teams. Original HayaBusa member Sven Ibens is planning to attend his last outdoor competition with ISR FireFlash at the ESL Championship. Skywalkers Junior are actually the second national 4-way Open Class in the ESL Championship field. However, the Czech team is not yet as ready to attend their first world championship as the experienced German Airbus 4-way competitors are.
