Did You Know...

... that Teiwaz outside center Tim Mack is filming his father Tom Mack for Airbus at Crystal Coast?

posted Oct 3rd, 2024 - Sweden's Echochamber and Germany's 4-way Open Class team, Airbus Oceanside Illertissen, left Florida on the same Wednesday, after the two training days of the German teams at Skydive City from the Twin Otter, and after Echochamber's last eventful training day from Cessna Caravan at Skydive DeLand.

Echochamber traveled with the same lineup that finished in 5th place at the FAI Outdoor World Championships 2018, Airbus with the same one that started in 2020 and attended their first outdoor world championship in Eloy 2022.

Both teams had changes in their lineups, Echochamber only in the active lineup in front of the camera, Airbus only behind the camera, and the German national team in 4-way Open had a recent one after their national outdoor championship. In fact, Airbus will have their third different team videographer at Crystal Coast at their third outdoor competition this year.

Andreas Trögele had been filming the current Airbus 4-way team from the start in 2020 all the way throughout the world championship in 2022, until Daniel Weiß took the camera slot in 2023. Meltemi videographer and Teiwaz Cirkus outside center of 2023, Pablo Fahrenschon, stepped in for the Paranodon Cup 2024, and Daniel Lamberty was on camera for Airbus at the German Outdoor Nationals 2024.

The Airbus video story was not over yet, as Airbus outside center Tom Mack's son Tim was filming the team at the ESL Championship 2024. Tim Mack had competed with Teiwaz at the Shamrock Showdown 2024 and then again with Teiwaz Cirkus at the German national outdoor championship this year, where he replaced Meltemi videographer Pablo Fahrenschon in the outside center slot.

The NSL News reported the activities of father Tom and son Tim Mack at the German outdoor nationals with the update and NSL Live Talk on September 19th, and neither the Mack family nor Airbus coach Solly Williams knew at that time that Tim Mack would eventually travel to North Carolina with Airbus this week to compete as the team videographer.

Tim Mack was filming the Airbus 4-way team to the 19.1 average at the event in Saarlouis and delivered a cleaner video performance than his predecessors. The team eventually invited him to join them on the trip to the United States for several more days of training in Florida and the ten rounds of competition. Both Teiwaz Cirkus outside centers at the German Nationals in 2023 (Pablo Fahrenschon) and in 2024 (Tim Mack) will now be on camera for the German national 4-way teams in 4-way Open and 4-way Women at the outdoor world championship. Former Airbus 4-way videographer Daniel Lamberty was filming 8-way team Operation Adler at the national championship and will be on camera at Crystal Coast, as well.

Airbus Oceanside Illertissen will probably need each and every scoring point in the upcoming battle for the world's unofficial amateur champion title. The competition could be so tight that any lost point by rules infringements or point deductions due to video troubles ("Camera Angle / Grip Visibility") might change the final placement.

Airbus team captain Tom Mack knows best that a Swedish Echochamber in good shape is a very strong opponent. He was facing the same Echochamber lineup in Australia 2018 with a different Airbus lineup, and Echochamber placed 5th, Germany 10th. The new and current Airbus lineup then ended up once again behind Echochamber with a different lineup in Eloy 2022.

Both teams have not met each other ever since, and Airbus have carefully worked their way up close enough to the 20-average level that Echochamber are already familiar with. New and very young Airbus videographer Tim Mack is now a part of this tight competition, where every single point could matter. Echochamber may have their own advantage, as they focus only on 4-way competition at the world meet. Three Airbus members, including Tom Mack, have double duties at Crystal Coast, after Operation Adler defeated the Airbus 8-way team at the German outdoor championship and have the opportunity to win 8-way bronze medals for Germany. However, the 5th place in 4-way may be more important for the Mack family than the 8-way bronze medals.
