Did You Know...

... that Saturday was the last training day for the world meet?

Dramatic 8-way finish in Germany
posted Oct 5th, 2024 - Last and not least, the preview leaderboard with NSL Power Rankings in 8-way was brought to its final version before the competition begins with 4-way on Sunday morning, followed by 8-way in the afternoon. The expected 8-way rankings for the update on August 26th were still featuring both German 8-way teams, Operation Adler and Airbus, before Operation Adler won the internal qualification at the German Outdoor Nationals.

The NSL News will still follow up later with the dramatic ending of the 8-way competition at GoJump Gransee. Both German 8-way teams were ready to travel to North Carolina on a short call. The complete Operation Adler lineup has arrived at Crystal Coast and have been in full training swing, as the new NSL TV Unfiltered video footage is showing.

Operation Adler now have a very realistic chance to defend the FAI bronze medals successfully that Airbus won in Eloy 2022. Only the Brazilian 8-way Netunos and British 8-way team Ap8thy could interfere with the German plans to take the 3rd place once again, and the teams' previous scoring numbers confirm the German goal. The situation is different for the German national team in 4-way Women, Meltemi Oceanside Illertissen. NFTO, still reigning 4-way Women world champion, decided not to defend their title, and there was a question mark behind the participation of a team from China in 4-way Women. The Chinese team is now present at Crystal Coast, and video footage of training jumps confirm that Meltemi will probably not be able to keep up with XPG4, Nephtys and China. However, an exciting competition for the three medal positions in 4-way Women can be expected.

Thyra with Tim Mack and Ditta Valsdottir
NSL TV Unfiltered continued with featuring the Norwegian team in 4-way Women, Thyra, after Ditta Valsdottir's arrival at Crystal Coast. Coach Carl-Erik Tuv explained that even his original DeLand Norgies team mate Lise Aune/Nansen was ready to hurry to North Carolina and help out. Ditta Valsdottir won the race to the open inside center slot and was in training with the team all day long on Saturday.

There was still new confusion about Thyra when the NSL News detected new Airbus 4-way videographer Tim Mack in the boarding area with the Norwegian 4-way Women team. It turned out that Thyra videographer Dennis Barstad competes for Norway in 4-way VFS with Blue Pelican and was training with his team. Tim Mack was helping out on camera for Thyra. Agera member Kjetil Viste Levik, Thyra substitute on Friday, was also back with his own team on Saturday.

Arizona Airspeed, French Aethers, Qatar Tigers and NMP PCH HayaBusa were in warmup mode on Saturday, as well. Airspeed brought original member, mentor and coach Jack Jefferies to North Carolina for the competition, while HayaBusa had the next family reunion. David Grauwels is filming HayaBusa, Andy Grauwels coaches the Qatar Tigers, and father Alex is looking after his two sons who are now separated.

Alex Grauwels made the trip again together with Paul Praet, Dennis Praet's father. It's not the first time that they travel to a world championship together with the Belgian delegation. French national coach Mathieu Bernier has both of his national 4-way teams, Aethers and Nephtys, healthy and in good shape at the competition site. He meets his former team mate Jeremie Rollett once again who moved to Qatar three years ago and coaches the Falcons 8-way team.
