Did You Know...

... that Arizona Airspeed explained successful group dynamics?

Arizona Airspeed with Jack Jefferies
posted Oct 12th, 2024 - The NSL News update on October 10th featured the Arizona Airspeed story of the new world champion lineup in the last five years. It was actually the second 4-way outdoor title that the same lineup won after Eloy 2022. Only videographer Alex Swindle won his first one.

Christopher Kuhlmann and Joey Marshall will continue with Alex Swindle on camera, and the complete lineup of 2020 - 2024 met once again with the NSL News for the final conversation. The next one will most likely be with the two new team members who will be selected in the coming weeks.

Yesterday's NSL Live Talk with Arizona Airspeed became the longest one in the team history with the NSL News, as they tried to cover their whole journey together. All team members expressed their gratitude for the support that they have received to accomplish what they did in the same five years. They understand the whole skydiving community as the foundation for their own situation and appreciate the opportunities that this has offered to them.

They also went deeply into the team dynamics and the secrets of how to build and maintain a successful lineup. A careful listener can get a lot of free information on everything that has to do with managing a 4-way team successfully. According to Arizona Airspeed, the logistical and financial support for a team is almost at the bottom of the priorities, compared to the importance of the group dynamics. They pointed out that original Airspeed member Jack Jefferies played a vital role in bringing out the best of all team members and the group in itself.

NSL Live Talk with Arizona Airspeed on 11 October 2024
Arizona Airspeed in traditional exit slots
Last and not least, the change of the lineup became naturally a topic, as well. The tryouts for the open slots have been going on for a while and are not over yet. Chris Kuhlmann and Joey Marshall said that they are still working on the selection. However, the first training with the new lineup is scheduled for the beginning of December, and the official announcement can be expected at the end of November.

Fact is that Joey Marshall and Christopher Kuhlmann have been in the point (JM) and inside center slots (CK), and it is probably unlikely that they will switch to different slots. Together they know both pieces with all details, Joey Marshall the front piece, Chris Kuhlmann the rear piece. Continuing in the same slots allows them to share all their experiences directly with the new piece partners.

However, neither the new team members nor the expected slot assignments were a part of the conversation, as these topics are not relevant enough, at least not at this point in time. Training techniques and experiences in coaching and bringing competitors to the top level are widely available, which is enough for the remaining Airspeed members to know that finding the best team mates for a well functioning group with great spirits is the most pressing task. France (Aethers) and Belgium (NMP PCH HayaBusa) have shown how quickly they can bring new team members to the top level with the appropriate training techniques. Joey Marshall and Christopher Kuhlmann have their own experiences after joining Airspeed coming from Ranch 2nd Generation (R2G). They were brought up to the top level by Niklas Hemlin and Mikhail Markine very quickly. November 29th is the key date for the announcement of the new lineup.
