... that three 4-way Women teams finished in the combined Top 7?

5 points short of Top 10: German 4-way team Meltemi at Crystal Coast
posted Oct 14th, 2024 - The NSL News presented the first combined AAA Class leaderboard (4-way Open/4-way Women) after four rounds at the end of the first competition day. One of the main reasons to feature the combined leaderboard early was the fact that U.S. 4-way Women team XPG4 was tied with Qatar Tigers in 3rd place after Round 4, as the NSL News reported on October 7th.

The 4-way Women teams had a strong presence on the combined AAA Class leaderboard at that time, placing in three of the seven highest ranking positions. They maintained this strong showing of female 4-way power until the end of the 10-round competition. The Qatar Tigers eventually managed to finish one point ahead of XPG4 (228 - 227), and China allowed NMP PCH HayaBusa to tie this duel after the previous 1-point lead.

China and Nephtys were both in a 1-point battle with HayaBusa after Round 4. and the French team ended up four points behind in 7th place, while they maintained their 2-point lead over the unofficial amateur world champions Echochamber from Sweden.

Meltemi Illertissen Oceanside were one of the most improved teams at the outdoor world championship, and they were only four points short of taking the 4th slot of 4-way Women teams in the Top 10 on the combined AAA Class leaderboard. They caught up with Apex and left the British 4-way Open Class team behind at the end. Only the strong Agera comeback after a slow start kept Meltemi out of the combined Top 10 rankings. The least experienced team of the complete 4-way field, Thyra from Norway, ended up at the bottom of both leaderboards.

Linda Köb with Operation Adler at Crystal Coast
Arizona Airspeed were one of the few teams who finished on their highest performance and scoring level. The 27.3 average was this lineup's highest result without a Super Sequence. The French Aethers matched their own scoring level of the national outdoor championship, while they tied more Airspeed scores than at any other previous direct confrontation.

No other 4-way team could match the progression of the German national team in 4-way Women, Meltemi Illertissen Oceanside. The previous lineup performed on a 15-average level in 2022 and 2023, then launched the 2024 season with substitutes Susa Serra and Christian Schaefer on the same level at the Paranodon Cup 2024.

The complete current lineup followed up with 17.0 at the German Outdoor Nationals 2024, 14 points behind Germany's 4-way Open Class national team Airbus. The 17.9 team record average at Crystal Coast, only 11 points behind Airbus now, was still not enough to win a medal in 4-way Women, or make it to the Top 10 on the combined leaderboard. However, Meltemi member Linda Köb succeeded in defending her 8-way bronze medal that she had won with Germany's Airbus 8-way team in Eloy 2022. Operation Adler competed for Germany this time, and Linda Köb completed her double duties successfully.
