Did You Know...

... that Jakub Klapka had a tail comeback with Skywalkers Junior?

Tail Jakub Klapka in action with Skywalkers Junior
posted Dec 17th, 2024 - The Czech 4-way teams competed first at the Hurricane Factory in Prague this month, before two of them also completed the next ten indoor rounds of the Flyspot Liga event in Poland. The NSL News covered the performances of the Czech 4-way juniors (Panthers, Eagles) and the additional teams from Poland and Lithuania in the past two days.

Skywalkers Junior had traveled to Poland in November for the Flyspot Open 2024 where they defended their AAA Class championship title successfully that they won last year. The December competition of the Czech Tunnel League was already the 3rd competition for them since the beginning of the indoor winter season. They had concluded their outdoor season at the ESL Championship 2024 in September.

The young Czech national indoor and outdoor champions had enough competition at their meets on home air in Prague's Hurricane Factory, where the new Cirkus 2.0 lineup finished close to them at the WTL/ETL November meet. The combination of HF Flying Cirkus team mates Dagmar Bezdekova and Martina Vavackova, plus Bad Boys team mates Marian Jeziak and Vaclav Prokes, all of them former Czech 4-way Open Class champions, had finished only five points behind Skywalkers Junior (226 - 221) in November this year. Cirkus 2.0 were planning to be back with the same lineup and challenge the former Czech 4-way juniors even harder.

Skywalkers Junior - Cirkus 2.0 at the December meet of the Czech Tunnel League
HF Flying Cirkus at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022
It became very interesting when Skywalkers Junior learned that their team members Filip Lukavec and Martin Stransky would not be available for the 10-round competition due to illness. However, Skywalkers Junior consist of five active and trained team members, and they could count on Michal Mikolasek to step into any open slot.

Krystof Rulf, Antonin Ondracek and Michal Mikolasek were still one team member short, while Cirkus 2.0 had their complete lineup available. They eventually activated their outdoor team videographer Jakub Klakpka who is without 4-way camera work throughout the indoor winter season.

Jakub Klapka was more than prepared, as he used to train and compete in the tail slot for HF Flying Cirkus. The previous Czech national indoor and outdoor 4-way team had concluded their decade-long outdoor competition career at the FAI World Championship 2022 in Eloy. The same HF Flying Cirkus lineup (Dagmar Bezdekova, Martina Vavackova, Lukas Kaderabek, Jakub KLapka) continued with indoor training and competition for another year, including the Top 10 finish at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 in Slovakia.

Jakub Klapka has been familiar with the indoor scoring and performance level of Skywalkers Junior, which has been up to 25.4 in January 2024. His own highest indoor meet average was the 26.0 with HF Flying Circus at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022.

The indoor world cup in Charleroi, Belgium, was the same event where all Skywalkers Junior members won gold and bronze medals for the Czech Republic in the 4-way Junior competition, and HF Cubs added gold in 4-way Women.

Jakub Klapka joined forces with Skywalkers Junior on camera when HF Flying Circus did not continue, and he was glad to fill the open slot, even though Skywalkers Junior are well prepared for slot emergency with a fully trained 5th team member. The double-substituted Skywalkers Junior lineup eventually continued on a similar scoring level as before and increased the distance to Cirkus 2.0 from five points in November to 19 points at the end of the ten December rounds. HF Flying Cirkus team mates Dagmar Bezdekova, Martina Vavackova and Jakub Klapka were opponents in the flying chamber this time. Jakub Klapka will move back to his camera slot, unless he will be needed again, either for Cirkus 2.0 or for Skywalkers Junior.
