Did You Know...

... that the Czech Indoor Open expects 18 teams next week?

4-way junior team Fenix with Patricia Herdicky
posted Jan 11th, 2025 - The Czech 4-way teams completed their third event of the indoor winter season on Wednesday in Prague's Hurricane Factory. 4-way Women team Kiss My Grips from Slovakia joined the Czech teams once again on the AAA Class leaderboard, and young Slovakian 4-way competitor Patricia Herdicky filled an open slot for junior team Fenix.

Skywalkers Junior increased the distance to Cirkus 2.0 from 19 points in December to 27 points in their run-up to compete for the Czech Republic at the indoor world championship in April, even though Cirkus 2.0 performed on their familiar 22+ level. The 24.9 average of Skywalkers Junior was close to the team's highest average of 25.4 that they posted almost exactly a year ago in January 2024.

The 4-way juniors of the Helikopters increased their total once again by a few points to move closer to Jan Klapka's M Team, as it was expected after the first two meets of the indoor winter season. The difference is now down to three points after the ten rounds, while the M Team made it easier for the 4-way juniors this time with five point deductions in Round 4. The next meet of the Czech Tunnel League could become the first serious battle for the upper hand between the juniors and the seniors on the same AAA Class performance level. There will be another indoor competition at the Hurricane Factory before the next meet of the Czech Tunnel League in February. The Czech Open Indoor Championship is scheduled for the January 18 weekend, and most of the same teams will meet each other then, as well, including M Team and Helikopters.

Czech Open Indoor awards in January 2024
Several Czech teams have three indoor meets on their agenda within the four weeks between beginning of January and February. The monthly meets of the Czech Tunnel League between November and April allow the teams to collect competition practice and monitor their own progression, from month to month, and annually from one category to the next one.

The Czech Indoor Open Championship next week is a special event that has begun to turn into an international event, as well. The coming competition will generate a leaderboard of at least 18 teams. Jan Klapka allows participants to compete in more than one team, which is a popular format at other indoor events, as well.

It seems like the young Czech national indoor and outdoor champions of Skywalkers Junior will be able to defend their indoor tile successfully. The five team members rotated once again though the 10-round competition last week, and some of them will also have double duties at the open championship. They have turned into role models for the youngest Czech 4-way generations and share their own experiences as much as possible as player-coaches when there are open slots. Nine teams are expected on the AAA Class leaderboard next week, the other nine teams will probably compete in the AA and A categories. Most of the 4-way junior teams have already advanced beyond the RRR Class. Only TNT and Sharks started the indoor winter season in the Rookie Class and posted their next scores on the A Class leaderboard.
