Did You Know...

... that missions were accomplished at the Czech Open Indoor Championship 2025?

30-average for FAI medals in Slovakia 2023
posted Jan 19th, 2025 - The Czech Open Indoor Championship 2025 was successfully completed on Saturday. Skywalkers Junior received their first national indoor gold medals, as it was expected. The NSL News mentioned in the preview last week that the team's goal would be higher than just winning the competition.

They accomplished the goal of posting a new team record average with the 25.9 which improves the scoring level of last year's winner, HF Chameleons, by three points. Next target is the 27.0 average of the HF Cubs, which is still the highest average that any Czech 4-way team has posted in the country's formation skydiving history.

Skywalkers Junior still have three months and three meets of the Czech Tunnel League to get to the next level before they will meet the best 4-way teams in the world at the FAI Indoor World Championship of Formation Skydiving at Paraclete XP in April. The current 25.9 average of the weekend would have been enough for the 6th place at the previous indoor world championship in Slovakia 2023. The medal level in 4-way Open began at the 30-average benchmark. It was not an easy draw at the Hurricane Factory in Prague, as 20 of the 22 blocks were part of the competition, including all six slot-switching blocks in five different rounds. 14 of the 16 random formations completed the ten sequences.

The distance to the team in 2nd place, Cirkus 2.0, increased once again. Skywalkers Junior are now on their own on the top of the leaderboard and have to find internal ways to continue the progression without pressure from opposing teams. Cirkus 2.0 had won a round and tied three more less than two weeks ago, and the Czech silver medalists increased their own scoring level, as well. It was not enough any longer to maintain striking distance with Skywalkers Junior.

In fact, guest team Crazy Dragons in 3rd place were closer to Cirkus 2.0 compared to the distance between 2nd and 1st place. Cirkus 2.0 member Martina Vavackova was guiding the all-female lineup of two junior Panthers (Aneta Parizkova, Elen Zielinska) and former HF Flying Rebel 4-way junior world champion Denisa Jeziakova to the 3rd place. Crazy Dragons outscored Martina Vavackova's first team, Cirkus 2.0, in three rounds and tied two more.

Crazy Dragons Aneta Parizkova and Elen Zielinska also competed with winning AA Class team Panthers, which allowed them to be eligible for the AAA Class competition with Crazy Dragons, even though they could not win medals. The AAA Class bronze medals actually went to new team Wind4ce, as Crazy Donut was another guest team from Poland. The other half of AA Class winner Panthers (Pavla Mlynkova, Mikolas Velicka) joined forces with Skywalkers Junior's 5th member, Michal Mikolasek, and Patricia Herdicky, who was a 4-way junior for the team from Slovakia at the indoor world championship of 2023 at the Hurricane Factory Tatralandia.

Cirkus 2.0 - Crazy Dragons at the Czech Open Indoor 2025
Jan Klapka with HF Cubs in Slovakia 2023
An earlier NSL News update covered the exciting challenge that the Czech senior 4-way teams are facing year by year when new 4-way juniors of Jan Klapka's 4-way school are joining the indoor sport in lineups that the Czech 4-way godfather keeps generating with growing success. Skywalkers Junior are the best current example for the progression of 4-way training and competition in the Czech Republic.

The story was related to the Indoor Cloud League competition in December last year where the HF Helikopters began to perform AAA Class sequences the Czech Tunnel Leagueand challenge Jan Klapka's M Team for higher scores in three of the six ICL sequences (AAA - AA - A). The Helikopters were also the next 4-way Junior team taking on the complete AAA Class dive pool in the monthly meets of with the beginning of the 2024/2025 indoor winter season.

The M Team seniors maintained the upper hand over the Helikopters juniors in November (122 - 83) and December (125 - 108) and just got away in January by three points (118 - 115). The end of the M Team dominance in this duel came at the Czech Open Indoor Championship when the Helikopters were ready for the next AAA Class scoring level. M Team posted their highest meet average this winter season, which was not even close any longer to stop the Helikopters from winning their first duel (136 - 127). 4V Tunnelu is probably the next Czech AAA Class senior team who will be the target for the Helikopters.
