Did You Know...

... that the Czech teams had opponents from Florida?

Two Panthers on the AAA Class podium
posted Jan 21st, 2025 - The AAA Class competition of the Czech Open Indoor Championship 2025 last weekend caught naturally a lot of attention, as the Czech Republic has consistently risen to become one of the 4-way powerhouses in the world's formation skydiving competition, as an event host as much as in the athletic field.

Jan Klapka's 4-way junior school has generated indoor world champions in 4-way Women and 4-way Junior, and the Skywalkers Junior team are on their way to challenge teams in 4-way Open Class medal positions indoors and outdoors in the near future. The AAA Class leaderboard deserves even more attention before other events will take place.

However, the other leaderboards of last weekend's indoor competition are just as important, especially as the Czech 4-way juniors and future AAA Class top competitors usually launch their careers at the bottom of the available 4-way categories, AAA/AA/A/RRR for traditional 4-way events, the additional two Rookie categories (RR/R) at the Indoor Cloud League. The Czech Indoor Open is a traditional 10-round 4-way competition and offers four different categories, while only three of them were used this time for the event at the Hurricane Factory. Even the teams who started in the RRR Class with the beginning of the indoor winter season in November 2024 have already moved up to A Class competition, at least for the Czech Indoor Open.

The winners in the AA Class (Panthers) and in the A Class (Surikaty) distanced themselves from the field on their respective leaderboards. Both teams posted almost all sole highscores for the ten rounds, only Surikaty gave away one round. The youngest 4-way juniors in Jan Klapka's 4-way school, Fenix, claimed the highscore for Round 6.

The NSL News had mentioned the members of the Panthers during the coverage of the AAA Class on January 19thAll four members of the Panthers also competed in different lineups for scores on the AAA Class leaderboard, two with Crazy Dragons (Aneta Parizkova, Elen Zielinska), two with Wind4ce (Pavla Mlynkova, Mikolas Velicka). They came together for their complete Panthers lineup and AA sequences without any opposition and missed the 20-average benchmark by only one single point.

The Sharks juniors outscored senior team Chxanky by two points for the 2nd place, and the Eagles juniors were not far away from the 3rd place. An indirect 1-point battle took place at the bottom of the AA Class leaderboard. Slovakian team Quattro Formaggi completed their ten rounds at the Hurricane Factory in Prague, while Skymenace first jumped three times from the Twin Otter at Skydive City before moving to iFLY Tampa when the weather failed in Zephyrhills.

The DoorBlockerZ did the same with the outdoor/indoor combination in Florida. They came to the end after two rounds at Skydive City and then completed the ten indoor rounds at iFLY Tampa, as well. DoorBlockerS were actually in the middle of an exciting competition for the 2nd place on the A Class leaderboard without knowing it at that time.

DoorBlockerZ is a new home team at Skydive City. Team member Jason King trained and competed with AirGo in the A Class last year and finished in 2nd place of the Beginner Class at the USPA National Championship 2024. He was in the tail slot for AirGo who did not continue this year, and he joined the new team at Skydive City as the inside center.

DoorBlockerZ' Indoor and outdoor performance both were promising, and a new A Class medal contender seems to get ready at Skydive City. Skymenace members Fawn and Amaranth Aquarian had won USPA gold medals in 4-way Beginner at the USPA National Championship 2023 with CitiZens. DoorBlockerZ will attend the Shamrock Showdown 2025 and then travel to Arizona for the national outdoor championships in October.
