Did You Know...

... that the Czech teams needed all available substitutes last week?

Denisa Jeziakova - Marian Jeziak
posted Feb 16th, 2025 - The February meet of the Czech Tunnel League was heavily impacted by a flu epidemic that coincided with the spring vacation for the Czech juniors in the traditional schools. Jan Klapka reported from the Hurricane Factory in Prague that none of the 4-way junior teams attended the event with their complete lineup.

He said that he alerted all potential substitutes, and there were plenty of double duties to fill all the open slots. The flu did not only have its impact on the 4-way junior teams, it also reached the seniors of Skywalkers Junior. Michal Mikolasek, who is the rotating 5th team member and also substitutes regularly for any open slots in other teams, had to replace Antonin Ondracek this time, his own Skywalkers Junior team mate. Skywalkers Junior with Michal Mikolasek were still able to fend off Cirkus 2.0 on the top of the AAA Class leaderboard, even though they could not match their previous scoring level under the circumstances.

4-way junior team Helikopters were still able to maintain their upper hand in the ongoing duel with the seniors of M Team. They took the lead first time in January and defended it last week with their own substitutes. Adam Petricek and Karolína Sebestova were not available, and the two other Helikopters, Jakub Jeziak and Martin Podany, needed help. Father Marian Jeziak and daughter Denisa, who also train and compete together with Crazy Dragons, joined son and brother Jakub Jeziak to complete the Helikopters lineup for this meet. M Team's Jan Klapka and Marian Jeziak also used to be team mates years ago with the Bad Boys.

Skywalkers Junior - Cirkus 2.0 at the February Meet of the Czech Tunnel League
Denisa Jeziakova with Flying Rebels in 2022
Denisa Jeziakova, former member of 4-way junior team HF Flying Rebels (Michal Mikulisek, Krystof Rulf, Martin Stransky) was also helping out for the 4-way juniors of the Sharks, who were missing David Brabec and Filip Rahbani. Cirkus 2.0 member Martina Vavackova is used to double duties in 4-way and 8-way at any events, and she filled the second open slot for the Sharks.

There was more work for her, as the A Class juniors of Fenix needed substitutes, as well. Only Anicka Hruskova and Kaja Konecna were available for Fenix, and Martina Vavackova was ready to help out in her third team for the day. She eventually competed in all three categories (AAA - AA - A) at the same event.

Sharks junior Kaja Podana agreed to help her 4-way junior school mates in the A Class, as well. Sharks and Fenix were separated by one point (145 - 144) in the two different categories, where two sequences (Round 3 - Round 7) were identical. Senior team TNT was one of the few teams with their complete lineup and finished with a significantly increased (11.9 - 14.1) new team record average. It was still not enough to finish ahead of the heavily substituted Fenix lineup after an exciting 10-round duel. It was the first time this year that the 4-way juniors outscored the 4-way seniors in the A Class. This duel will become even more interesting in March when Fenix will hopefully be back with the complete lineup, as well.
