posted Feb 24th, 2025 - Kamuran "Sonic" Bayrasli concluded his NSL Live Talk interviews at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025 with the Golden Knights, the new U.S. indoor champions in 4-way Open. He had launched his series of interviews with the other top contenders for the NSL News before the competition began, Aethers Medjay, Tunnel Vision, SDC Rhythm XP, Arizona Airspeed.

It was coincidence that he did not get to cover the Golden Knights before the competition began. The other top teams were talking about their expectations and preparations for the meet while the U.S. Army team answered his questions as the winner of the national indoor championship title.

The competition for the U.S. indoor gold medals turned out to be a re-match of the duel between Tunnel Vision and Golden Knights at the Wind Games, where they had finished in reverse order, Tunnel Vision tied with NMP PCH HayaBusa in 2nd place, then in 3rd place after the extra round, Golden Knights three points behind Tunnel Vision in 4th place. Neither Tunnel Vision nor Golden Knights or any other U.S. team at Paraclete XP were able to get anywhere close to the French national team in 4-way Open, Aethers Medjay. However, all three U.S. top teams, including Arizona Airspeed, managed to outscore Aethers Medjay in Round 8. NMP PCH HayaBusa (2) and Golden Knights (1) had only tied three French scores in Spain.

The Golden Knights have won numerous U.S. indoor and outdoor championship titles in 8-way since 1985. Last weekend's 1st place in 4-way was only the 2nd time that a 4-way lineup of the U.S. Army delegation won the national indoor championship. Current member Jesse Stahler did the same at Paraclete XP in 2016, with Sean Sweeney, Matt Davidson and Kurt Isenbarger in the lineup.

Next step for the Golden Knights is an even bigger one, and it is not the indoor world championship in April, where Arizona Airspeed will represent the United States without new member Alisson de Vargas. It is the national outdoor championship at Skydive Arizona in October, the U.S. qualification for the outdoor world championship at the same place in 2026.

It is expected to be the even more challenging competition for the Golden Knights, as the new Arizona Airspeed lineup will most likely be eligible to win the USPA Nationals 2025. SDC Rhythm XP are on a parallel path with Arizona Airspeed and have the same plan to win the USPA gold medals this year. Tunnel Vision is exclusively an indoor team and will not compete at the USPA Nationals. Niklas Hemlin will only focus on guiding the Golden Knights to the outdoor championship title, as well, as their coach. The Golden Knights have only two USPA championship titles in their collection so far, one from 1986, the second one from 2002. Kurt Isenbarger, Eric Heinsheimer, John Hoover and Chris Talbert won it, with Sean Capegreco on camera. Jeshua Stahler, Mitch Stockenberg, Nick Birkner and Mike Connors will try to do the same in Eloy this year, then with Skyler Romberg on camera.
