Did You Know...

... that U.S. teams make plans for upcoming FAI/ISC/ICL events?

posted Mar 2nd, 2025 - USPA Nationals and Paraclete XP Indoor Championship have been the U.S. qualifiers for FAI/ISC events in the past and still are. This year, U.S. teams will compete at the indoor world championship in April (Paraclete XP) and the outdoor world cup in September (Teuge, Netherlands).

Arizona Airspeed still represent the United States at the indoor world championship, where only one team competes for each country. The qualification for this event was the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2024. Airspeed could also be one of the four U.S. teams who would be eligible for the outdoor world cup if new member Alisson de Vargas has his new FAI license for the United States by then. The qualification for the outdoor world cup was the USPA Nationals 2024.

The Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025 was the U.S. qualifier for the indoor world cup in 2026, where four teams may compete for each country in the Formation Skydiving events, including 4-way Women. Three all-female teams competed at Paraclete XP last month in the two AAA categories, 4-way Open and 4-way Advanced, which apply the same competition draw. At least two of them, GPTNT and XP Angels, have plans until the indoor world cup next year, where they could be part of the U.S. delegation. Air Force team Halo, winner of the 4-way Advanced Class, could join the U.S. delegation, as well. Halo were the first all-female team who won USPA's Advanced Class medals. There has not been an Air Force team at FAI/ISC events in the past, while the U.S. Army has sent several Golden Knights lineups to 4-way and 8-way world meets.

Air Force Halo - GPTNT - XP Angels at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025

The next outdoor world cup in the Netherlands is the goal for at least one of the teams who competed at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025, as well. The U.S. qualifier for this event was the USPA Nationals 2024, where four all-female teams competed in the AAA events, including Air Force Halo in 2nd place of the Advanced Class.

USPA regulations require teams to compete in 4-way Open if they plan to become a part of the U.S. delegation at FAI/ISC events, and the Air Force team was probably not even thinking of the world cup this year. However, three other teams registered for the 4-way Open Class competition (XPG4, XP Furies, Perris4ever) to secure the option of a trip to the Netherlands with the U.S. delegation this year.

XPG4 have only plans for the upcoming indoor world championship so far, even though they are the reigning outdoor world champions in 4-way Women. XP Furies turned into XP Angels for the 2025 season and for the indoor world cup in 2026. Three team members continue with XP Angels (Jillian Hix, Alixandra Raymond, Jill Stephenson), now together with Natalie Arcia, Joy Jing and Marcella Rey. Joy Jing won USPA silver medals last year in 4-way Intermediate with XP Falcons, Marcella Rey placed 5th with 4Action on the same leaderboard, Natalie Arcia 13th with Volaticus. They all began with AAA Class training and the complete dive pool after the USPA Nationals 2024.

USPA silver in 2024: Joy Jing with XP Falcons
Marcella Rey and Natalie Arcia also know each other from their Indoor Cloud League events with the team from iFLY Fort Lauderdale that Marcella Rey has organized since joining in January 2024. 4Action usually contributed the scores for the AAA/AA sequences, Volaticus for A/RRR.

Marcella Rey has lined up three new teams for the ICL 2025 season, and the first scores for iFLY Fort Lauderdale will be posted soon. Strong4 brings former 4Action members Marcella Rey and Anatoly Yuntsevich together with former Volaticus members Joanne McLachlan and Natalie Arcia. Marcella Rey and Natalie Arcia both switch from their former point slots to their current positions with XP Angels, Marcella Rey as inside center, Natalie Arcia as her rear piece partner in the tail slot. Joanne McLachlan (Point) and Anatoly Yuntsevich (Outside Center) work together in the front piece.

Rule 3 will contribute the scores for the A/RRR sequences, with player-coach and 4Action member Jake Pearlman in his outside center slot. He has Sarah Jagessar (Point), Danny Siegel (Inside Center) and Carlos Franco (Tail) in his lineup. Dress for Success take on the monthly RR/R sequences, with Francisco Silva (Outside Center), Mustafa Gowad (Point), Dan Cuoco (Inside Center) and Dima Hribinik (Tail) in the lineup.
