posted Mar 11th, 2025 - German 4-way Women team Piteraq used to be the indoor version of Meltemi Oceanside Illertissen, who competed for Germany at the 26th FAI World Formation Skydiving Championships and finished in 4th place with a 17.9 average at Crystal Coast.

It would actually be more accurate the other way around, as Linda Koeb, Sylvia Maier and Susa Serra launched the 4-way Women indoor team a few years earlier in 2019, with Evangelina Warich in the tail slot. Current Airbus 8-way member Carola Fietz replaced Evangelina Warich in 2020 before Petra Jastram joined both lineups, Piteraq and Meltemi, in 2021.

Piteraq continued exclusively with indoor training and competition, while Linda Koeb and Petra Jastram added outdoor action to their agenda, Linda Koeb also in 8-way with Operation Adler. Original Piteraq member Susa Serra, who had not missed any of the eight indoor competitions since 2019, was not available this year when it was time for Germany's national indoor championship last week, and Piteraq had to turn the 4-way Women lineup into a 4-way Open Class team on the AAA Class leaderboard. Former Airbus 4-way and 8-way member Alexander Prendinger took the open slot and became the Sorcerer's Apprentice in the team name.

Alexander Prendinger matched the Piteraq pace around the 22-average level, which was rewarded with the 1st place and the national indoor championship title this year, after a dramatic 1-point battle, which Piteraq won in the last round over Skynamite & Friends..

It was a very interesting duel, as Skynamite used to be a German 4-way Women team, as well, between 2012 and 2022. Skynamite competed for Germany in 4-way Women outdoors in Australia 2018, indoors at Weembi Lille 2019. Meltemi and Piteraq then defeated Skynamite in 4-way Women in the following years.

Skynamite transitioned to the 4-way Open Class competition the same way as Piteraq did last week, only a few years earlier. The Skynamite Friend has been Swiss 4-way top competitor Marco Keller since 2023. He was back with Katharina Reiß, Sylvia Schlaphof and Yasmin Schütte for the third consecutive competition with the same lineup. This year's national indoor championship became the closest battle between the two 3-1 gender combinations. Skynamite could not win as a guest team with Swiss competitor Marco Keller, which does not take anything away from the exciting 10-round battle. Fact is that the two top positions were taken by six female German 4-way competitors, with a Sorcerer's Apprentice and a Swiss Friend in their lineups.

There were more guest teams at the German indoor championship, with Air-W from Switzerland and three teams from Austria on the AAA Class leaderboard.

Air-W have been a regular visitor at the Paranodon Cup events at Skydive Illertissen, home of the Airbus 4-way and 8-way teams. Piteraq's Sorcerer's Apprentice Alexander Prendinger has helped out for Air-W when they visited Illertissen in 2023.

Alexander Prendinger is originally from Austria, and he could witness the Austrian indoor championship at the German indoor nationals in Munich. The three Austrian teams competed officially for the national indoor title, as their own event was embedded in the German indoor Nationals. One more Austrian 4-way team finished in the middle of the German AA Class leaderboard, where they had no competition from their own country. AA Class winner Pace from GoJump Gransee added a new German 4-way title to their collection. They had won the A Class competition at the German Outdoor Nationals 2024 and moved up to AA Class training and competition during the winter time.
