Did You Know...

... that Mathieu Bernier needed a new substitute for the Nephtys at Paraclete XP?

Broken Aethers Medjay before the Shamrock Showdown 2024
posted Mar 21st, 2025 - Unfortunate news came from France today, which relate to the recent NSL Power Rankings in 4-way Women for the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025. National coach Mathieu Bernier informed the NSL News that the lineup of the Nephtys had to be changed.

Alexandra Petitjean, member of the French national team in 4-way Women since 2023, was injured in a work accident and will not be available for three to four months. Mathieu Bernier said that former Nephtys member Elise Poindron agreed to substitute for the indoor world championship. Elise Poindron was in the previous lineup between 2019 and 2024.

Pamela Lissajoux and Elise Poindron together continued with Alexandra Petitjean and Marie Pineau after Christine Malnis and Sophia Pecout retired from the national team with their last FAI gold medal at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023. The NSL News reported on February 19th that Mathieu Bernier had recruited a very strong 4-way Women lineup for the upcoming indoor world championship, including indoor and outdoor world champion in the same event, Clementine Le Bohec, back in action. Now he had to replace Alexandra Petitjean just a few weeks before Round 1 at Paraclete XP.

Mathieu Bernier was in a similar and very unfortunate situation with his national team in 4-way Open, Aethers Medjay, almost exactly at the same time a year ago. The NSL News had to report on 12 March 2024 that Tom Mattoni, Aethers Medjay's outside center, broke his leg at a landing from a training jump right before the Shamrock Showdown 2024.

The national coach took the slot for the competition at Skydive DeLand, and Pamela Lissajoux helped out in 4-way Open at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024, where Aethers Medjay still placed 2nd with a 31.9 average. Pamela Lissajoux now gets help from her former team mate Elise Poindron to fill the open slot of the Nephtys.

Mathieu Bernier said that Clementine Le Bohec was ready to step in for Elise Poindron in the point slot when he recruited the lineup for the indoor world championship. With Elise Poindron now coming back to substitute for injured Alexandra Petitjean, Clementine Le Bohec moves back to the slot that she knows best. She won her FAI gold medals as the inside center for the French national team in 4-way Women. This slot-switcher brings back together Clementine Le Bohec and Pamela Lissajoux in the center of the team. They worked together there when France won the indoor and outdoor world championships in 4-way Women, with Sophia Pecout and Christine Malnis in their lineup.

Nephtys (FR) - XPG4 (US) - China (CH) at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2019
Nephtys with Clementine Le Bohec (2nd from right) at Weembi Lille 2019
Clementine Le Bohec, Pamela Lissajoux and Elise Poindron know each other very well, too. They won the FAI indoor gold medals at Weembi Lille 2019, with Claire Victoire De Fleurian in their lineup, after a 2-point battle with NFTO. The same 3-way will now compete at Paraclete XP with full Nephtys member Marie Pineau, who was recruited for the national team in 4-way Women together with Alexandra Petitjean, as the NSL News had reported on 28 March 2023.

Nephtys won the FAI indoor gold medals at Weembi Lille in 2019, and two of the opponents (XPG4, China) will compete at Paraclete XP where they are considered the top medal contenders, as the NSL Power Rankings are showing. The situation is different though, as China seems to be out of reach after the results at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024.

Nephtys and XPG4 both have new lineups, and the French lineup may have the upper hand with a lot of experiences together as a 3-way. The NSL News also mentioned earlier that newest member Marie Pineau has already performed on a 26+ level a year ago, while XPG4 have not competed together yet with the lineup for the indoor world championship. The Swiss Airdrops witnessed the 26.5 performance of the new Nephtys lineup at the Wind Games 2024, and they will be a part of the new 4-way Women showdown between China, Nephtys and XPG4.
