A similar cooperation took already place between 2012 and 2015 when Paraclete XP supported the first outdoor competition of the year in Florida, after the annual Paraclete Indoor Championship in February, and the Shamrock Showdown/Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship in March at Skydive DeLand. Once again the coordination of the two events seems to work well this year as the participation level is back to the highest level since 2014.
The indoor world meet at Paraclete XP is scheduled for April 8 - 13 and the Shamrock Showdown follows at Skydive DeLand on April 18 - 20. Aethers Medjay (FR), Arizona Airspeed (US), Qatar Lions (QA) and Netunos 8 (BR) take advantage of the double-pack while being on the east coast of the United States. Only one national team is eligible to compete for each country at FAI World Championships in the Formation Skydiving events, while the Shamrock Showdown outdoor competition is open for any team in any category. The quality of the field in the last two years (2023, 2024) was on the highest world class level, where it used to be in the earlier years of the Shamrock Showdown. This year's event will again be a preview of the 2025 season, as it has been in the past. Most of the national qualification events for the next outdoor world championship in 2026 will take place this year, and the FAI Outdoor World Cup in Teuge, Netherlands, is the major outdoor competition.

Arizona Airspeed has been dominating the annual Shamrock Showdown in the last two decades after the first visit in 2002. In fact, only the reigning 4-way world champions of 2001, Airspeed Vertical with John Eagle, Craig Girard, Neal Houston, Mark Kirkby and Mark Steinbaugh on camera, ever lost the 4-way competition at Skydive DeLand. They were facing the new DeLand Majik team at their first visit in 2002 and lost by three points after all ten rounds.
Both teams then lost against the Golden Knights the same year at the USPA Nationals, and the U.S. Army team represented the United States at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2003. DeLand Majik won the Shamrock Showdown 2003 and followed up with the 1st place at the USPA Nationals 2003. Eventually the DeLand home team won the FAI gold medals at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2004 - after winning the Shamrock Showdown at the beginning of the world meet season.

Arizona Airspeed outscored Aethers Medjay by 43 points (282 - 239) after all ten rounds, which was preceded by the very unfortunate accident of French outside center Tom Mattoni. He broke his leg during a training jump in DeLand right before the Shamrock Showdown 2024. National coach Mathieu Bernier stepped in as the substitute, and the new lineup could not keep up with the well trained reigning world champions of 2022.
Both teams will be back in full strength and with their complete lineups. Nothing will be the same though. Aethers Medjay have already shown at the Wind Games 2025 and at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025 that they have taken away the world's top spot in 4-way Open from Arizona Airspeed, at least for now. The Shamrock Showdown 2025 is the starting point for every country on the way to the next outdoor world championship in 2026. Aethers Medjay, Arizona Airspeed and Golden Knights have left no doubt that they all plan to become the new world champions, and the results at the Shamrock Showdown will be the first milestone on the way there.
