Did You Know...

... that the GKXP8 lineup will compete for the U.S. delegation at Paraclete XP?

French 8-way lineup at Weembi Lille 2019
posted Apr 1st, 2025 - The NSL News update on March 3rd was still a part of the aftermath of the 8-way competition at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025, even though it included a preview of the same event at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025.

It was the French 8-way team No Name that connected the two events indirectly at that point in time. French Formation Skydiving legend Martial Ferre visited once again the 8-way Hell Week at Paraclete XP in February and the following U.S. national indoor championship at Paraclete XP, as he has done for many years. He confirmed that his No Name 8-way team will represent France at the indoor world championship.

The same NSL News update mentioned that Paraclete XP8 competed with a new lineup at the national indoor championship and won without any serious 8-way opposition. The combination of members of the previous lineup (John D'Annunzio, Kirk Verner, Jeana Billings, Andrew Happick) posted the 27.7 average with the four new team members (Jennifer Davidson, Jill Stephenson, Brandon Kashani Ian Pedowitz), 61 points ahead of Prison 9 in 2nd place. It was the highest 8-way indoor average in 2025, and only the world champion lineup of GKXP8 had scored higher last year with the 30.0 average at the same event. The Qatar Falcons finished in 2nd place with their 27.7 average at the Weembi FS Cup 2024.

French 8-way lineup at Tanay 2021
The recent NSL News update of the Davidson family included a new preview of the upcoming indoor world championship and the lineup of the U.S. national 8-way team for the event. It confirmed that it will be the eight GKXP8 world champions of 2024 who will compete for the U.S. delegation at Paraclete XP next week.

The 27.7 average of the Qatar Falcons at Weembi Lille in April 2024, followed by the 27.1 at the British Indoor Nationals 2024 was the reason for the NSL News update on 29 November 2024. There seemed to be the potential for more serious competition on

the very top of the indoor leaderboards, with the reigning world champions (GKXP8) and a challenger (Qatar Falcons).

This situation was confirmed when the new XP8 lineup finished with their 27.7 average at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025. There was no domestic U.S. competition even close to the XP8 scores, however, at least the Qatar Falcons are familiar with this scoring level. The GKXP8 lineup was also far ahead of the Qatar Falcons at the 26th FAI World Formation Skydiving Championships at Crystal Coast last October, who were probably surprised to see a new lineup compete at the U.S. indoor championship and finish with the 27.7 average.

Reigning 8-way world champions: GKXP8
It became even more interesting when Martial Ferre confirmed that his 8-way team was planning to compete for France at the indoor world championship. The XP8 world champions know that Martial Ferre will always be a formidable opponent when he selects a competitive 8-way team, and he obviously finds the support of his national coach, Mathieu Bernier.

The French national indoor 8-way team finished only seven points behind Paraclete XP8 (316 - 309) at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2019. Two years later, there was only a 1-point difference after seven completed rounds between ASXP8 and France at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020.

Martial Ferre and his 2019 lineup (Gaelle Giesen, Damien Gouriou, Aurelien Lemaire, Pamela Lissajoux, Kevin Mansion, Charles Rommel, Alban Rumolo) are also still owning the highest scoring number for a single round that they posted with the 44-points in Round 6 (M,Q,J,16) of the previous and only other indoor world championship at Weembi Lille 2019. Martial Ferre and Gaelle Giesen are in the No Name lineup and will try to oppose the U.S. 8-way world champions. It is exactly the same XP8 lineup who posted the 30.0 average in February 2024 and won the FAI outdoor gold medals at Crystal Coast, who will try to defend the world's 8-way top spot next week.
