Did You Know...

... that Skywalkers Junior and Tom Mattoni have a separate 4-way junior history?

4-way Junior awards in Montreal 2017
posted Apr 4th, 2025 - The video evidence of the Skywalkers Junior 27.9 performance is now available for the audience. Czech 4-way godfather Jan Klapka uploaded this week's competition videos a day after the completion of the ten rounds at the Hurricane Factory, and the Czech national team in 4-way Open seems to be just as ready for the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025 as Echochamber were after their national indoor championship.

The youngest national 4-way Open Class team in the history of Formation Skydiving competition will meet the second youngest team of the upcoming competition at Paraclete XP, the French national indoor and outdoor team, Aethers Medjay. Tom Mattoni is the outside center for the French team, and he is a major factor in his team's average age with his 20 years.

All four Skywalkers Junior and Tom Mattoni grew up in the windtunnel chambers of the Hurricane Factory in Prague, Czech Republic, and Aerokart in Paris, France. It is somehow surprising that they still have never been on the same leaderboard at 4-way junior or any other events in the past. Now they will represent the Czech Republic and France in 4-way Open at the indoor world championship, and they are both medal contenders. In fact, Tom Mattoni with Aethers Medjay is expected to dominate the 4-way competition, just as much as they did at the Wind Games 2025 and at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025. Skywalkers Junior have now joined the group of medal contenders behind the French team.

4-way Junior awards in Charleroi 2022
The Skywalkers Junior members and Tom Mattoni have actually met each other at least once at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 in Charleroi. However, they posted their scores on different leaderboards.

Tom Mattoni was already recruited by national coach Mathieu Bernier for the next French 4-way Open Class lineup, together with his Aerokart Ak'demie team mate Mathieu Quizy. Cameron Malie and Oscar Massier completed the lineup and finished in 2nd place behind Arizona Airspeed and ahead of NMP PCH HayaBusa.

The four Skywalkers Junior members were still eligible for the 4-way Junior category in 2022. Filip Lukavec and Antonin Ondracek took the bronze medals with HF Chameleons in Charleroi, Krystof Rulf and Martin Stransky won the event with HF Flying Rebels: They only outscored Tom Mattoni's younger brother Noe Mattoni on the 4-way Junior leaderboard, who was in the Aerokart Ak'demie linup of 2022. Tom Mattoni launched his 4-way career with another Aerokart Ak'demie lineup in 2014 (Noah Bereaux, Eliot Massier, Valentin Vazille) at the age of ten years. His Aerokart 4-way Junior lineup of 2017 (Cameron Malie, Eliot and Oscar Massier) eventually won the FAI gold medals in Montreal, Canada.

4-way Open awards in Charleroi 2022
The Skywalkers Junior members all came together with Chameleons and Flying Rebels in 2017, after a few years of participation in Jan Klapka's 4-way junior school. Filip Lukavec was in the Junior Blue lineup in 2016, Krystof Rulf with Junior Green. Jan Klapka changed the lineups in 2017 and created the Chameleons and the Flying Rebels with the lineups who competed in Charleroi 2022.

Filip Lukavec, Antonin Ondracek, Martin Stransky, Krystof Rulf and Michal Mikolasek then transitioned to outdoor training together and formed Skywalkers Junior in 2023 at Jan Klapka's outdoor school at the Skywalkers tandem factory in Most. They are now the national 4-way indoor and outdoor champions and attend their first FAI/ISC competition next week at Paraclete XP.

Tom Mattoni will be their direct opponent for the first time. His team, Aethers Medjay, plan to confirm their indoor top position in the world and then follow up with the same plan for the Shamrock Showdown 2025. Tom Mattoni and his current team mates finally outscored Airspeed's 2-time world champions Joey Marshall and Chris Kuhlmann at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025, after accepting four years of Airspeed dominance between 2022 and 2024. Aethers Medjay will see three reigning and defending world champions in the Airspeed lineup next week, as Niklas Hemlin is back in his outside center slot, substituting for Alisson de Vargas. Skywalkers Junior will probably aim at keeping in touch with Arizona Airspeed and compete for FAI indoor medals in 4-way Open.
