posted Apr 10th, 2025 - The first competition day of the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025 is over. All four Formation Skydiving events (4-way Open, 4-way Women, 4-way VFS, 8-way Open) completed four rounds, and the combined 4-way leaderboard is featuring the current situation, which is just as interesting as it could be expected.

The French Aethers Medjay are in control of the 4-way Open Class competition and have created a 7-point lead over NMP PCH HayaBusa in 2nd place. They gave away one round, where Arizona Airspeed posted the highscore (24) over both French teams (23). Only Airspeed and Nephtys survided the technically challenging sequence of Round 2 (C,22,10) without any point deductions.

The NSL News preview of the event on April 3rd brought to the attention of the audience that Czech 4-way Open Class team Skywalkers Junior had posted a 27.9 average at the last meet of the Czech Tunnel League and just a few days before the departure for the trip to Paraclete XP. The open question was whether or not they would be able to carry the momentum into the indoor world championship: "However, if Skywalkers Junior can manage the additional challenges successfully, then even the medal contenders could be up for a surprise. A great performance by Skywalkers Junior and Echochamber and an average meet for HayaBusa and Airspeed could create an even more exciting battle for the medals than expected so far."

Round 1 in 4-way Open and 4-way Women

Skywalkers Junior did indeed carry the momentum into Round 1 on Thursday morning, even though they experienced the same emotional challenges in the first round of the competition, as much and in the same way as the most experienced 4-way and 8-way competitors have to master them.

They were still behind Aethers Medjay, NMP PCH HayaBusa and Arizona Airspeed in the latest NSL Power Rankings, even though they had now posted a higher meet average than the new Airspeed lineup at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025. Niklas Hemlin is back in his outside center slot for the indoor world championship, which brings back together three reigning 4-way world champions and new Airspeed member Doug Hendrix.

Skywalkers Junior showed no respect or unusual anxiety, despite their first appearance on the world's highest indoor stage. They are three points ahead of Arizona Airspeed (119 - 116) after Round 4 and five points behind NMP PCH HayaBusa. The NSL News met with the Czech team after Round 4 to find out more information about their very young approach, with a 17+ average of their ages. The NSL News had met the same team for their first NSL Live Talk in August 2023 on their home turf in Most, home of the Skywalkers tandem operation and Jan Klapk's 4-way school. The new question is now whether or not Skywalkers Junior can carry their current momentum into the second day of the indoor world meet. The 4-way teams will be back in action on Friday morning.
