posted Apr 16th, 2025 - The four Skywalkers Junior members, with an average age below 18, were actually not the youngest competitors at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025. The NSL News mentioned on February 28th that the whole French Mattoni family will be back at Paraclete XP in April, father Stephane in the audience, older son Tom in the Aethers Medjay lineup, younger son Noe with the French D'Arc8 team in 8-way Open.

Tom Mattoni is now one of the youngest 4-way world champions in the history of formation skydiving competition with his 21 years of age. However, his brother Noe is even five years younger with his 16 years. He is not a world champion yet, neither in junior nor in senior 4-way or 8-way competition. However, he stepped up to the 8-way podium of the indoor world championship to receive his FAI silver medal.

The NSL News met with the complete Mattoni family when both events were concluded after Round 10 on Saturday and before the award ceremony later the same day. The scores were officially posted when the new NSL Live Talk took place, and Tom Mattoni was already celebrating his gold medal with champagne. Stephane and Noe Mattoni traveled back to France when the event was over, while Tom Mattoni went on the road trip to Florida with Medjay Aethers and national coach Mathieu Bernier, where they will attend the Shamrock Showdown 2025.

Father Stephane Mattoni is not only the strongest supporter of his sons and their teams, who were both born in Monaco, the place where Stephane Mattoni has been living and that he trained and competed for when he was an active competitor. He launched the Monaco team project in 2005, with former French 8-way champions Didier Boignon and Jeff Ronzevalle, and Laurent Hayot completing the lineup, Claude Ferraro on camera.

The NSL News introduced the Noene Mandelieu 4-way team with this interesting lineup on 18 May 2007. The team name has lasted for Monaco until the most recent appearance at the Weembi FS Cup 2025 earlier this month, where Stephane Mattoni competed with his son Noe and two other members of the D'Arc8 lineup (Thomas Chomel, Thomas Misztal).

The NSL News introduction of the team in 2007 came two years after Stephane Mattoni had launched the Monaco team project in 2005. He and his original team mates (Didier Boignon, Jeff Ronzevalle, Laurent Hayot) posted their first scores in the NSL News records at the Malevsky Memorial Cup 2005 in Stupino, Russia. Stephane Mattoni's older son and new indoor world champion Tom Mattoni was just born when his father launched the 4-way project. He was three years of age when the NSL News introduced the Monaco team. Noe was born two years later.

Tom Mattoni started his 4-way career in the Aerokart Ak'demie junior project of 2014 (Noah Bereaux Eliot Massier, Valentin Vazille). His brother Noe followed on the same path five years later in 2019 with a different Ak'demie lineup (Louis Caulier, Simon Caulier, Chloe Massier).

The French national indoor championship of 2020 then featured the complete Mattoni family on the leaderboard in three different teams. Stephane Mattoni competed with his original team mate Jeff Ronzevalle, even earlier French 4-way world champion, Franck Vazille and his son Valentin Vazille.

Stephane Mattoni’s son Tom was his opponent on the AAA Class leaderboard with his 17 years of age by then. He had Cameron Malie, Eliot and Oscar Massier in his junior lineup and won the competition. Noe Mattoni competed in the AA Class with his different Aerokart Ak'demie lineup (Chloe Massier, Louis and Simon Caulier) and took the 1st place, as well. Finally, the complete Mattoni family was in the same lineup and at the same competition. The Weembi FS Cup 2022 brought them together, with Aethers Medjay member Mathieu Quizy completing the Mattoni lineup. They had a few more family events ever since, last time at the Weembinamic 2024, with former Ak'demie junior Cameron Malie in the lineup.
