posted May 12th, 2025 - The leaderboard of the Shamrock Showdown 2025 was still growing after the completion of the ten rounds at Skydive DeLand. The same week, teams of the Texas Skydiving League opened their outdoor season at Spaceland San Marcos.

The weather in Florida was much better than it was in Texas, as it allowed all ten rounds to be completed at the end of the second event day, including all teams in the three attended categories (AAA - AA - A). The same three categories will be applied at the USPA Nationals (Open/Advanced - Intermediate - Beginner), and all teams in DeLand could define their starting point on the road to Eloy 2025 in April.

It was a promising start for the teams from Florida, who have participation at the USPA Nationals in their 2025 calendar, 4Action in 4-way Advanced (AAA), DeLand's Hit Show in 4-way Intermediate (AA), Door BlockerZ in 4-way Beginner (A). The teams from Florida and Texas could not compare much of their scores, as they did either not use the same categories (A/RRR) or could not complete enough rounds in Texas (AA). AAA/Advanced Class team 4Action did not have another U.S. team on the AAA Class leaderboard that will compete in 4-way Advanced at the USPA Nationals, unless Jen and the Double Ds would decide to step down. Dan Schultz and Danny Suter competed with player-coaches Jeana Billings and Kirk Verner in 4-way Open at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025, then with Jeana Billings and Jennifer Davidson at the Shamrock Showdown.

It was different on the AA/Intermediate Class leaderboard at the Shamrock Showdown, where home team DeLand's Hit Show posted a new team record average and started into the competition with the highest score for a single round in team history. They may have surprised the regular USPA Intermediate Class medal winner from Texas, Toxic, with the new potential to join the group of medal contenders at the USPA Nationals.

Toxic actually competed with two player-coaches at the TSL season opener. TSL director Scott Latinis and Toxic founder Demo McDonnell guided Andrew Clayton and Nadya McDonnell, with Joshua Schirard on camera, to the only score on the AA Class leaderboard, the 14-pointer in the same Round 1 that DeLand's Hit Show performed at Skydive DeLand. DHS then copied their own new record number in Round 5, as well.

Demo McDonnell and Andrew Clayton were in the Toxic lineup who won the USPA Intermediate Class bronze medals last year, together with Melissa Coleman and Christina Edwards, Lawrence Wobker on camera. There was a second Toxic lineup on the RRR Class leaderboard at Spaceland San Marcos. The Honey Badgers won the first and only round clearly over the Bootie Buddies. TSL Director Scott Latinis has scheduled two more meets for the teams in Texas and guests in August and September before the USPA Nationals conclude the outdoor season in October.
