Did You Know...

... that the outdoor world cup at Skydive Teuge is also a 10-year anniversary?

Competition site of the FAI World Cup 2025 in Teuge
posted Jun 24th, 2025 - The FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 has been a topic in discussions and NSL News updates for a while. It is the major international Formation Skydiving competition of the year and brings more teams together than a world championship. Up to four teams can compete in each event for the countries' delegations.

The preview leaderboard with the NSL Power Rankings is showing that the U.S. delegation is using the whole contingent in 4-way Open with four registered teams (Golden Knights, SDC Rhythm XP, XPG4, RhEvolution XP), which does not even include Arizona Airspeed, who could not win FAI/ISC medals at the event for eligibility reasons.

Several other nations (France, Belgium, Qatar, Spain, Netherlands, Great Britain) are represented by two teams in 4-way Open. The total number of teams may still increase, as the official deadline for registration is July 13th. The first unofficial NSL Power Rankings for the 4-way Open event features the expected battle fields in the medal positions and the teams who are in contention for the Top 10. The situation is similar to the ones after Round 10 at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024 and at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025. Golden Knights and NMP PCH HayaBusa will push each other to move closer to the top favorite from France, the Aethers.

Opening ceremony at the FAI World Cup 2015 in Teuge
This year's outdoor world cup is also a 10-year anniversary, as Skydive Teuge hosted the same event in 2015, as well. 20 teams competed in 4-way Open, which is exactly the same number of registered teams at the moment. NMP PCH HayaBusa were the reigning 4-way world champions after taking home the William H. Ottley Sword for the world champions, also known as the 4-way Excalibur, for the first time in Prostejov 2014

Jeroen "Bob" Nollet had replaced Roy Janssen in the tail slot, and HayaBusa's new lineup transitioned smoothly back to the world's 4-way top spot. They left all other teams at Skydive Teuge in the dust a year after the outdoor world championship. Arizona Airspeed were not present at the world cup in Teuge ten years ago, and they will miss the extraordinary Dutch event management this year, as well.

However, the situation is different for NMP PCH HayaBusa, as well, who cannot win the competition this year. The Aethers from France, reigning indoor world champions, have shown at the indoor event and at the Shamrock Showdown 2025 that they are currently out of reach for any other 4-way team. France had finished in 3rd place ten years ago in Teuge with Damien Gouriou in the lineup, who is the point for the recent French national team in 4-way Open. Russia's Black Cat won the silver medals in 2015, while no teams from Russia can be expected to register for this year's world cup. A second team from Russia, the Tanay Wolves, was also on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard in 2015. Russia's delegation of 2015 actually won four FAI silver medals.

NMP PCH HayaBusa - France 4way Open - Black Cat at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2015
NSL Live Talk with NMP PCH HayaBusa in Teuge 2015
The world cup of 2015 at Skydive Teuge was already a first-class event for the participating teams, and this year promises at least the same level of meet management and organization. Dutch FAI/ISC delegate Ronald Overdijk has surrounded himself with an extremely well knowledged and experienced Organising Committee.

Committee member Erwin van den Braak was in the lineup of Dynamic Fource, arguably the strongest Dutch 4-way team in the past. He and Alex Egberink also launched the "Project Dutch FS4 20 Plus" together when they did not continue with intensive 4-way training and competition any longer.

Rick Verbunt was a member of Chaotic Motion VIXX, who challenged Out Of The Blue for the 4-way top position in the Netherlands. He was an OOTB member in 2018 and competed at the world championship in Australia. He joined Chaotic Motion VIXX in 2019 and then attended the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023 in Norway with his team. Roald de Leest is even more current than his fellow committee members. He is still training and competing with Out Of The Blue, last time at Crystal Coast 2024 and the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025. Simon Woerlee is completing the Organising Committee that is now working on the logistics for the event.
