posted Jun 27th, 2025 - Not only the exciting duel between Golden Knights and Arizona Airspeed was a highlight at the Paraclete XP Summer Classic 2025. In fact, the other duel on the AAA Class leaderboard, between Platinum XP and the XP Angels, was just as exciting and offered very similar drama as it was going on at the top of the leaderboard.

It was on Saturday in Round 5 when home team XP Angels had to swallow a 1-point score, before Arizona Airspeed lived through a real exit funnel in Round 9 on Sunday. Platinum XP and XP Angels both completed all ten rounds on the first day of the competition, and the damage for XP Angels occurred at half-time in a different way.

The trouble was also related to the exit, even though another clean Bow (H) had already been turned into the first formation of the sequence, the Bundy of Block 12. XP Angels were in the middle of the inter when team videographer Alix Raymond collided with the rear piece, which caused a serious funnel, as well. The XP Angels could not recover quickly enough to add more scoring formations to the complete and correct first Bundy and had to live with the 1-point score for Round 5.

There was still a good part of the bad experience, as it came at the right time. The XP Angels are a part of the U.S. delegation for the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025, and the Summer Classic is an opportunity to collect competition experiences, before the major events of the year require all attention and the best performances.

XP Angels qualified as one of each country's four-team contingent in each world cup category at the USPA National Championship 2024, where they battled as XP Furies with Perris 4ever at the bottom of the 4-way AAA/Open Class leaderboard. Both teams will have their re-match at Skydive Teuge in the Netherlands, even though the lineup of the XP Angels is different now. Three members of the 2024 lineup (Jillian Hix, Jill Stephenson, Alixandra Raymond on camera) are back for the team, now with Natalie Arcia, Joy Jing and Marcella Rey. Jill Stephenson is training and competing with Paraclete XP8, and she has the alternate slot for XP Angels.

Platinum XP, back with the same lineup of 2024 (Scott Franklin, Don Hurd, Matthias Kaminski, Bill Thomasson) were able to take advantage of the damage for XP Angels, who had just taken a 2-point lead after Round 4 in this duel. The highly experienced outdoor competitors gave away only one more round and carried an 11-point advantage safely over the finish line. XP Angels had won the previous indoor duel at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025 by 22 points (165 - 143) with the current lineup. Both teams could have their own outdoor re-match at the USPA Nationals 2025.There was still a good part of the bad experience, as it came at the right time.
