Did You Know...

... that NMP PCH HayaBusa explained the 2015 situation with NSL Live Talk in Teuge?

Tent City at Skydive Teuge in 2015
posted Aug 15th, 2025 - The first NSL News preview of the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 on June 24th pointed out that Skydive Teuge had hosted the same event in 2015, as well. A decade later, the dive pool is different, and other rules have changed for the 10-year anniversary.

All registered teams in Formation Skydiving competition will perform the same ten rounds, which was not the case in 2015. The event was in fact the last one where FAI/ISC applied cuts of the field after Round 8 and after Round 9. In 2015, only 13 of the 20 teams in 4-way Open continued after Round 8, with separate elimination rules for the would cup and the European championship. Only seven of the 13 teams then qualified for Round 10.

The same elimination rules had also been used at world championships, last time in Prostejov 2014, which was the event where NMP PCH HayaBusa won their first world championship title, ahead of Arizona Airspeed and Canada's family team Evolution. The world cup a year later at Skydive Teuge was a meaningful event for the new 4-way world champions, as they had to digest a change in the lineup. Tail Roy Janssen was not any longer in the next lineup, and Jeroen "Bob" Nollet had to replace him. He blended in well and quickly, as the next seven years would show, when the new HayaBusa lineup defended the FAI gold medals successfully three times, still with world champion coach Gary Smith.

NSL Live Talk with NMP PCH HayaBusa at the FAI World Cup 2015 and at the Dubai Cup 2014
NMP PCH HayaBusa with coach Gary Smith in Teuge 2015
The first serious test after the change was the world cup at Skydive Teuge, even though the new lineup had already competed at the 5th Dubai International Parachuting Championship in December 2014. NMP PCH HayaBusa with new tail Jeroen Nollet had to accept that the Canadian bronze medal winners of 2014 had the upper hand with the same lineup just a few months after the world championship in the Czech Republic.

However, the new HayaBusa lineup were up to speed much quicker and earlier than expected with new tail Jeroen Nollet and won the world cup gold medals in Teuge 2015, followed by the 1st place at the FAI World Championship 2016 and the two successful title defenses in 2018 and 2021. The same new lineup never lost an outdoor competition in this time period.

New member Jeroen Nollet was introduced with NSL Live Talk at the Dubai Cup 2014, and the complete new lineup was also available for NSL Live Talk at the FAI World Cup in Teuge 2015. Dennis Praet, David Grauwels and Jeroen Nollet have trained and competed with NMP PCH HayaBusa ever since and will be back in Teuge later this month. The NSL News plans for more conversation with the team at the same competition site, this time with new members Neal Willems and Ray Lodens. The Belgian national team has been working on getting back to the world's 4-way top position, and they are expected to stay close to the Golden Knights and reduce the gap that has been separating both teams from the French Aethers at all events after the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024.
