Did You Know...

... that six world cup teams compete this weekend in France, Great Britain and Czech Republic?

Aethers Lille with new videographer Cameron Malie
posted Aug 23rd, 2025 - This weekend offers interesting insights of the situation right before the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025. Czech Republic, France and Great Britain are running their national outdoor championships simultaneously, even though they do not apply the same competition draws.

The Czech 4-way teams started on Friday and completed all ten rounds in Prostejov on Saturday. Skywalkers Junior are the team who will travel to Skydive Teuge this upcoming week, where the next Round 1 is scheduled for Friday, August 29th.

The Czech teams happened to have the most interesting competition draw. A Super Sequence (B,D,P,L,N) waited for all teams in Prostejov in Round 5. However, the AAA Class teams had to master four extremely technical sequences before getting to the scoring opportunity. Ten of the 22 blocks were embedded in the first four rounds, three-block sequences in Rounds 2 and 3, two-block sequences in Rounds 1 and 4. Eleven more blocks then came in the remaining four rounds after the Super Sequence. Only Block 4 (Monopod - Monopod) was saved for Round 11 and was not used in the 10-round meet. Skywalkers Junior had two very different halves of the meet. They were flawless in the first five rounds, while the judges did not like their performance after that. They collected a total of 13 point deductions in the second half and finished only slightly above their 2024 scoring level. However, the Super Sequence was totally clean, too, and the 35-pointer compensated for the painful earlier rounds and the second half.

The French teams have completed eight rounds by the end of Saturday. The two missing rounds have probably the two fastest sequences, and the meet averages will be significantly higher after all ten rounds. Aethers Lille, the reigning indoor world champions, will represent France in 4-way Open at Skydive Teuge, together with Les Hermines.

Aethers Lille are still the top contender for the FAI gold medals at the outdoor world cup, while Les Hermines seem to deserve an upgrade in the NSL Power Rankings. They may take the top position of the group of teams behind the Top 10 contenders.

Nephtys Maubeuge confirm their position as the unreachable team in 4-way Women. The NSL News introduced the new lineup with the preview on June 27th. Nephtys Maubeuge will orient themselves mostly on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard after finishing with a 20+ average after all ten rounds in Bouloc. British Army's Volt4ge team and Axis represent Great Britain at Skydive Teuge, and they completed only two rounds so far at Skydive Hibaldstow. All six teams from the Czech Republic, France and Great Britain have next week to recover, evaluate and then travel to the Netherlands to deliver their best performances of the year.
