Did You Know...

... that British 8-way team Just M8S is wearing orange T-shirts?

Sunset at Tent City on Wednesday
posted Aug 28th, 2025 - The Qatar Falcons were back in training on Thursday morning after a break, together with their coach Jeremie Rollett. The Falcons are expected to win the 8-way competition at Skydive Teuge, which would bring the first FAI gold medals to Qatar.

The NSL News has mentioned Qatar's delegation several times in the past as a new powerhouse in formation skydiving competition, and the potential 8-way gold medals at the outdoor world cup would be the new peak in the progression. The 19.0 average at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024 was the highest meet average for the Falcons and was rewarded with the FAI silver medals, two years after winning their first silver medals in Eloy 2022 with a 16.4 average.

The reigning XP8 world champions are not trying to defend their world's top position in the Netherlands, and the Falcons have the opportunity to turn silver into gold, at least at this year's world cup. The Falcons are probably aiming at their first 20+ average. Then they will have a whole year to prepare for the next outdoor world championship, where they will meet the strongest U.S. 8-way team at that time. There is no name of a competitor from Qatar yet on the William H. Ottley Sword for the 4-way and 8-way world champions, the famous sword also knows as the Excalibur. The Falcons could become the first Qatar competitors with a chance to add their names. Coach Jeremie Rollett has his name on the plaques of both swords. Three U.S. 8-way teams and the German Airbus will try to keep up with the Qatar Falcons in the coming days.

The next NSL TV Tour after the Turnaround Tour with France on Wednesday was a visit at Tent City on Thursday late morning. Tent City is ready for teams and competitors to move into their delegations' homes for the competition and use the common area for meals, entertainment and social times.

Roald de Leest is a member of the organizing committee and volunteered out of the blue as the guide for the Tent City Tour. He was less prepared for guiding the NSL News through the facilities than his team is for the upcoming 4-way competition. Roald de Leest trains and competes with the Dutch national team in 4-way Open, Out Of The Blue.

He joined OOTB in 2024 and has two world championships in his belt, outdoors at Crystal Coast 2024 and indoors at Paraclete XP 2025. OOTB is probably one of the teams chasing a position in the Top 10 on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard. The inspection of Tent City included the detection of the Dutch color orange in the British headquarters, where 8-way team Just M8S proudly wore orange T-shirts with the British insignia. The team even had an explanation though: team member Vera de Ruiter is Dutch.
