It did not change the atmosphere of the event and for the participants who were introduced with their complete delegations as usual. The sun was back at the time of the ceremony, and it became a very colorful parade of uniforms and flags into the huge tent that accommodates all participants at the times when they are not busy with jump preparations, although the creeper pad is a part of the common area, as well.
The NSL News met the president of the German skydiving federation on the way to the opening ceremony who is competing for Germany in 8-way at the outdoor world cup. Operation Adler won the 8-way bronze medals for Germany at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024, and the Airbus 8-way team will try to defend the 3rd place against the challengers from the United States, and the Netunos from Brazil. The same 8-way teams even have an opportunity to pursue FAI silver medals. Only the Qatar Falcons seem to be out of reach on the top of the 8-way leaderboard.
The procedures of the opening ceremony followed the protocol, with the introduction of the judges and officials, playing of the FAI hymn, and the promise of the representing participating competitor to follow the rules of the competition and fair play. The difference came with the competition draw, where the live draw was modified and became an entertaining part of the ceremony. The numbers and letters were hidden in balloons, which were popped by a neutral person of the audience to create the eleven sequences.
It went back to normal procedure when the draw was complete, and the board with the eleven sequences became a very popular target for teams and competitors. Then it was time for Round 1 on Friday morning, and the NSL News recorded the first activities at Skydive Teuge. Former Dutch national team member Erwin van den Braak (Dynamic Fource), also in the organizing committee, arranged the last logistics for the first competition day. Belgian Ayro members Els De Bie and Steven Lopes arrived on their bicycles, and young French Aethers videographer Cameron Malie had feedback about his first name.
