Did You Know...

... that Qatar Falcons and Prison 9 are much closer to each other than expected?

Prison 9 at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023
posted Aug 30th, 2025 - The NSL News mentioned in the last update from Skydive Teuge that Round 1 in the 8-way competition had a surprising outcome, as one of the three U.S. teams at the outdoor world cup finished the meet opener only one single point behind the undisputed favorite for the 8-way gold medals, the Qatar Falcons.

Prison 9, with the complete current 4-way lineup of SDC Rhythm XP, including team videographer Charlie Mcgee, were three points ahead of the next U.S. team (Mandatory Fun!) and five points ahead of Bra Nok after Round 1. Prison 9 had met the Qatar Falcons last time at the previous outdoor world cup in Voss 2023 where both teams ended up far behind the reigning 8-way world champions, GKXP8.

GKXP8 had left Qatar Falcons and Prison 9 in the dust at the first round in 2023 (27 - 18 - 16) which included Block 19, the same block that was performed yesterday in Round 1, as well. Qatar Falcons won the silver medals in Norway, 40 points ahead of Prison 9 (177 - 137), who now finished only one single point behind in the first round. The new Paraclete XP8 lineup did not make the trip to the Netherlands, and the FAI gold medal position opened up for Qatar Falcons, who did not seem to have any serious 8-way opponents for the competition at Skydive Teuge. The results of Round 1 may create unexpected pressure for the Falcons, who will appreciate a more exciting competition.

Qatar coach Jeremie Rollett has still been working on some changes in the lineup and the slots, while Prison 9 arrived in the Netherlands with a completely different lineup. Rhythm members Doug Barron, Chris Webb and Steve Loufek now have Greg Oldendick in their 4-way lineup, who has been a Prison 9 member since 2017, together with Brian Ball. Gorka Amian is also still in the current 8-way lineup after competing for Prison 9 at the previous outdoor world cup, and Charlie Mcgee has continued on camera in 4-way and 8-way.

Brenn Richards, Michelle Karamon and Steve Loufek have replaced Keith Conner, Doug Hendrix and Scott Latinis of the 2023 lineup in Voss. Steve Loufek focused only on his new 4-way slot with SDC Rhythm XP before he also joined Prison 9 in 2024. Brenn Richards competed with Prison 9 already last year, and her former XPG4 team mate Michelle Karamon, 8-way world champion of 2021 and 2022, joined the lineup for the trip to the Netherlands.

Brenn Richards and Michelle Karamon made additional 4-way plans with Niklas Hemlin and Craig Girard. SDC Rhythm XP and the former XPG4 members with the two other 4-way and 8-way world champions are opponents on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard, and Rhythm are six points ahead in 4th place after Round 4. The six Prison 9 members have double duties in Teuge, Brian Ball and Gorka Amian compete only in 8-way with Prison 9. Both options seem to be working well, even though the days are long for competitors in both events. The 8-way teams are still on a weather hold.
