Did You Know...

... that Out Of The Blue continue with Siem Ibens?

Ibens family (center) with Family Flash in 2023
posted Sep 1st, 2025 - Sven Ibens is one of the original NMP PCH HayaBusa members, together with David Grauwels, who is still on camera for the current HayaBusa lineup. He lives not far from the border between Belgium and the Netherlands, and it was not much of a surprise that he came to visit the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 yesterday.

He did not train and compete with HayaBusa any longer when the FAI World Cup 2015 was hosted ten years ago by Skydive Teuge. However, his wife Annelies Hasewinkel-Ibens was a member of the Dutch 8-way team M8trix who challenged the Qatar Falcons for the FAI 8-way bronze medals in 2015, with Gary Smith in the lineup.

Sven and Annelies Hasewinkel-Ibens both visited Skydive Teuge, and they also brought their son Siem Ibens, who was a Falco member until the team disbanded at the end of last year. The Ibens 3-way family have trained and competed together with Family Flash when Sven Ibens retired from competitive 4-way and 8-way after his years with ISR FireFlash, ISR Thunder, NMP PCH HayaBusa and Belgian teams even further back. Siem Ibens was recruited by Falco in 2024 when Paul Hofstee joined Out Of The Blue. He was available when the Dutch national 4-way team began looking for a new team member, as Ralf Pijnenburg will not come back with OOTB next year. Paul Hofstee and Siem Ibens will join forces in the new Dutch lineup.

NSL Live Talk with the Ibens Family
Strong performance in 8th place: Ayro (BE)
The conversation with the Ibens family took place after NMP PCH HayaBusa had won Round 5 and moved up to 2nd place after Round 6. They are naturally watching the Belgian national team very carefully, as the national team has been merging Belgian 4-way history and future both.

The HayaBusa performance is even more meaningful with new young member Ray Lodens in the lineup. He is a role model for Siem Ibens, as the Ibens family confirms openly that he is on the HayaBusa radar for a time when the national team may need the next new team member. In the meantime, Siem Ibens will train and compete with Out Of The Blue across the border, and his debut is coming soon at the national outdoor championship.

Out Of The Blue are heavily involved in the battle for the Top 10 positions at the outdoor world cup. Three teams are currently battling for the two apparently open Top 10 slots, and they are separated by four points after Round 5. The second Belgian 4-way team, Ayro, are currently and surprisingly ahead of OOTB. It is the first time that Ayro has the lead in this Belgian/Dutch duel. OOTB had finished 15 points (174 - 159) ahead of Ayro BENELUX Championship last year, when Siem Ibens was still competing with Falco. Now he will be facing the strong and confident Ayro team as a new OOTB member in a few weeks. Neither he, nor his parents or his new OOTB team mates are expecting the new lineup to win the national championship, even though Out Of The Blue could still be the strongest Dutch 4-way team with the new lineup.
