Did You Know...

... that the competition season is not over for the world's Top 3?

World's current #1 in 4-way: Aethers Lille/Medjay
posted Sep 4th, 2025 - Matt Landsmann produced the last summary of the competition action at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025, once again with Regan Tetlow anchoring the show. The 5th and last competition day had the happy ending with the completion of all scheduled competition rounds.

The 4-way Open Class competition provided the insights on the top of the leaderboard, one year away from the next outdoor world championship, where the medal winners at Skydive Teuge could meet each other again. The battle for the positions behind the medal winners was just as exciting as expected. It featured the Czech Skywalkers eventually as the youngest FAI 4-way Open Class medalists in history.

The new world cup champions from France confirmed their outdoor top spot in the 4-way world after winning the indoor world championship gold medals in April at Paraclete XP. However, Aethers Lille and national coach Mathieu Bernier also had to register that Golden Knights and NMP PCH HayaBusa have begun to reduce the distance to the French top level. Aethers Lille finished with a new outdoor team record average after the 26.1 at the Shamrock Showdown 2025. The NSL News mentioned earlier that team and coach both are well aware of the fact that they are the target for the two challengers from Belgium and United States. Aethers are working on their own progression to maintain the lead on the top scoring level, as the scoresheets are showing. The outdoor record average of 26.3 includes five point deductions, which indicates that Aethers have picked up the speed slightly, as well.

Friendly competition: Opponents Golden Knights - NMP PCH HayaBusa
The Golden Knights have made the most impressive progression, which explains the significantly shorter distance to Aethers Lille. The U.S. Army team had posted a 22.7 average at the Shamrock Showdown and finished with 24.6 after Round 10 at Skydive Teuge. They added one more round to the total of matching or beating the French scores and reduced the distance from 34 points at Skydive DeLand to 17 points at Skydive Teuge. The still have won only one round over France yet, Round 2 at the Shamrock Showdown (24 - 23).

Golden Knights and NMP PCH HayaBusa still have another 4-way battle coming this year, as both will compete for their countries at the CISM World Championship in Qatar, where Qatar Tigers and Papea will join them for the next exciting battle for the world's 4-way top spots. Mathieu Bernier and Aethers Lille recently decided to add their own challenging competition, and they will visit the USPA Nationals in October. There they can witness the U.S. showdown between Golden Knights and Arizona Airspeed and measure their own status once again on the highest 4-way level. Mathieu Bernier also confirmed that Aethers Lille will compete again at the Shamrock Showdown 2026, the 1st Bob Hallet Memorial, where they expect to face off with Arizona Airspeed, Golden Knights, NMP PCH HayaBusa and the 4-way top teams from Qatar.

NMP PCH HayaBusa quietly accepted the 3rd place on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard that they had expected on the road to the next outdoor world championship in Eloy next year. The complete current lineup had posted a 21.2 average for the 4th place at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024. The 23.7 outdoor average at Skydive Teuge is also reflecting a very impressive progression for the same lineup that will not change any longer.

Aethers Lille - Golden Knights - NMP PCH HayaBusa at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025
Waiting for opponents on their home turf: Qatar Tigers
The HayaBusa performance at the outdoor world cup includes the second round of five, in which any team in the world outscored the French Aethers Lille. NMP PCH HayaBusa had won Round 10 at the indoor world championship and repeated it in Round 5 at Skydive Teuge. Arizona Airspeed had won two rounds at the indoor world championship, Golden Knights one round in DeLand.

Many of the teams who competed at the outdoor world cup are done with the 2025 outdoor season and begin with indoor training. However, at least Golden Knights, NMP PCH HayaBusa and Papea still have the CISM World Championsip ahead of them in November. In fact, the Belgian and U.S. national outdoor championships are scheduled even before the long trip to Qatar in November.

NMP PCH HayaBusa can begin in two weeks, after their national outdoor championship, to prepare for the CISM competition with a different format. The Golden Knights cannot do the same, as their most important competition this year is the qualification duel with Arizona Airspeed in October on Airspeed home turf in Eloy. Their focus on this event began after Round 10 in Teuge. Only the winner of the USPA Nationals will compete at the outdoor world championship next year. The Golden Knights have less than two weeks to switch to the CISM mode and travel to Qatar, where the CISM experts of the Qatar Tigers will be ready to defend their home turf. The NSL News will provide live coverage from Qatar for this exciting event.
