Did You Know...

... that the Falcons won the first FAI gold medals for Qatar's formation skydiving delegation?

First 10-round meet in 8-way Open in Dubai 2014
posted Sep 5th, 2025 - The first NSL News update from the 8-way competition at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 came after the first two rounds, and after Prison 9 finished Round 1 only one single point behind the Qatar Falcons. It seemed like there could be more competition on the top of the 8-way leaderboard than expected.

The Qatar Falcons and coach Jeremie Rollett understood the message from the U.S. team well enough and corrected the situation instantly with a 4-point difference in Round 2. Prison 9 did even better in Round 5 when they tied the Qatar highscore of 19 points. However, there was eventually a 34-point difference between 1st and 2nd place after all ten rounds, and the Falcons won the first set of FAI gold medals for their country in formation skydiving history.

Three U.S. teams were lined up behind Qatar Falcons on the 8-way leaderboard, while the reigning 8-way world champions, GKXP8, did not compete at Skydive Teuge. The GKXP8 lineup had won the FAI gold medals at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024, where the U.S. team tied the highest 8-way average in history (23.9) after claiming a new world record for a single round with the 37-pointer for the fastest sequence (3-M-N-4) in Round 9. The door to the first FAI gold medals for Qatar Falcons opened when XP8 withdrew their registration for the competition. The 18.1 average at Skydive Teuge was more than enough to outscore the other three U.S. teams. The Falcons now have one year to get ready for facing the new XP8 lineup, or any other U.S. 8-way team that wins the 8-way competition at the USPA Nationals next month.

Qatar Falcons - Prison 9 at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025
First FAI medals in Australia 2018
The Qatar Falcons 8-way team joined the formation skydiving competition world in 2011, when they competed for the first time at the USPA Nationals. The 2011 lineup started with a 6.9 average in the 8-way Intermediate Class competition and came back to the United States a year later with a 9.4 average in the same category.

The Falcons were ready for the complete 8-way dive pool in 2012 and posted their first 8-way Open Class scores at the FAI Dubai Mondial 2012. The 10.1 average after Round 9 qualified the Falcons for the last slot in the semifinals (Round 9). The 5th Dubai International Parachuting Championship in November 2014 became the first competition where the Qatar Falcons completed ten rounds in 8-way Open with a 12.4 average.

The Qatar delegation continued with their progression to become a new powerhouse in formation skydiving competition. The consistency and continuity was finally rewarded with the first FAI outdoor world championship medals in Australia 2018, with Gary Smith coaching the 8-way team. Jeremie Rollett has continued the 8-way work since 2018, and he eventually guided the Qatar Falcons to the FAI gold medals at the outdoor world cup last week. Jérémie Rollett is an 8-way world champion of 2006 and 2008 and won 4-way gold in 2010. He knows that it will be a great challenge for the Qatar Falcons to defend the FAI gold medals successfully next year at Skydive Arizona.

Qatar Falcons training before Round 1 and before and after Round 10
Current team captain Abdulla Al Hammadi was an original member of the 8-way lineup in 2011 and has experienced the whole progression from the very beginning to winning an FAI 8-way gold medal. He and coach Jeremie Rollett will now continue with different chores, while the Falcons are getting a break.

Abdulla Al Hammadi and Jeremie Rollett both are heavily involved with the organization of the CISM World Championship, which will be hosted by Qatar. Jeremie Rollett is the meet director, and the team captain of the Falcons is the officer in charge for the event. They will work together in different ways than 8-way training and competition until November when the military competition takes place in the capital city of Doha.

The CISM World Championship includes only 4-way competition, which allows Abdulla Al Hammadi and Jeremie Rollett to focus only on the meet management. Qatar will be represented by the original lineup of the Qatar Tigers, who have been training only the CISM dive pool with their coach Andy Grauwels.

The Tigers surely want to win the 4-way competition on their home turf, while they have to be ready for two of the best 4-way teams in the world. Golden Knights and NMP PCH HayaBusa will travel to Qatar in November and plan to win the CISM gold medals, as well. HayaBusa are the defending CISM world champions and have won the event 15 consecutive times. This year's title defense will probably be the most challenging one, as it will be the complete current lineup in front of David Grauwels' camera.

The NSL News discussed the whole agenda with Abdulla Al Hammadi and Jeremie Rollett in the middle of the world cup competition at Skydive Teuge.
