Did You Know...

... that 4-way Women bronze medalists XP Angels never looked back after Round 4?

Dutch home team: Funky Falcon
posted Oct 9th, 2025 - The 4-way Women competition at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 was the only event in horizontal formation skydiving where the NSL Power Rankings in the previews matched the final ranking results exactly. The most recent scores from France and Norway before the competition at Skydive Teuge had indicated well enough that Nephtys Maubeuge and Thyra would claim the FAI gold and silver medal positions. However, the NSL Power Rankings were showing a serious competition to come between the other three teams in this 4-way category.

U.S. team XP Angels seemed to be the strongest contender of the three teams for the open bronze medal position. The two U.S. teams had posted scores which roughly matched the Funky Falcon numbers of 2024 before traveling to the Netherlands and take on the home team in the battle for the 3rd place. XP Angels were ahead of Perris 4ever by meet average before the outdoor world cup.

It was still close enough between all three teams to expect an exciting competition, and the situation after the first four rounds at the end of the first day was promising the expected battle. Perris 4ever had the best start and a 2-point lead over XP Angels (41 - 39), with Funky Falcon another single point behind (38).

FAI bronze medals for XP Angels
XP Angels had lost a total of 12 points due to penalty point deductions in the first three rounds and just had to collect themselves. The scoring numbers before penalties indicated that the U.S. team could easily have the lead without the judging and video troubles. They cleaned up the performance already in the last competition round of the first day to claim the sole highscore and never looked back after that.

The situation after the first four rounds was not the same for the remainder of the 10-round meet. XP Angels allowed Funky Falcon only once to tie the highscore for a round after the troubled start into the competition. The Dutch team seems to like Block 1, as their previous team record highscore was an 18-pointer for another sequence with Block 1 (O,M,1,B) at the BENELUX Championship 2024.

XP Angels and Perris 4ever both might have been surprised that the Dutch home team still maintained a very close distance at the beginning of the next competition day. In fact, the same three teams were separated by only one point (53 - 52 - 52) after Round 5, and the next two rounds did not separate the teams by more than a point. XP Angels had not only left behind the troubled start at that time and gained confidence round by round.until the first lead after Round 5 had grown to nine points after Round 10. The 4-way Women competition then turned into an exciting duel between Perris 4ever and Funky Falcon, while XP Angels secured the bronze medal position. All three teams eventually finished the 10-round competition with their highest meet averages.
