Did You Know...

... that the 4-way Open Class teams launch the USPA Nationals on Sunday morning?

Time for briefing and competition draw
posted Oct 26th, 2025 - At the end of another beautiful fall day at Skydive Arizona, teams and competitors were streaming to the place where meetings have been held for many years. It was time for the meet briefing and the competition draw after the last training day had come to an end.

Registration procedures and the last adjustments had their deadline at four o'clock in the afternoon. One of the last adjustments was probably the change of the video slot for AA/Intermediate Class medal contender Relentless from Florida who had to replace their team videographer in the last minute after an injury. The adjustment was literally completed at closing time.

Meet director Randy Connell went though the usual agenda of the opening briefing as quickly and efficiently as possible. He knows that most of the teams want the competition draw and use the little time until Round 1 to do what needs to be done and be well prepared on Sunday morning. It was dark when the draw was handed out at the end of the meeting and the team went back to work. The final number of 57 participating teams, including a few guest teams, matches the average participation at USPA Nationals since 2006. It is also the highest number since 2022.

NSL TV Unfiltered: Meet Briefing and Competition Draw
Presentation of the competition draw
12 teams are on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard, 14 compete in the second AAA Class category, the 4-way Advanced Class. The 4-way Intermediate Class is once again the strongest part of the USPA Nationals with 20 teams, even though the eleven teams in 4-way Beginner represent the only category with new record participation.

All 22 blocks were drawn for the eleven AAA Class rounds, 20 in the regular ten rounds, the remaining two (11, 16) in the extra round for a potential tie-breaker. 13 random formation are mixed up with the 20 blocks in the first ten rounds, two more follow in Round 11. Only random formation B (Stairstep Diamond) has no place on the AAA Class leaderboards.

The draw is of similar nature for the Intermediate Class teams, where 14 of the 16 blocks will be used in the regular ten rounds, and two more are waiting for teams who might have to perform the extra round. All 16 random formations will be used up after Round 10. All eight blocks and 16 random formations of the A/Beginner Class dive pool are spread out in the ten rounds, and Block 2 comes back again in Round 11, together with random formation A (Unipod). The competition begins with Round 1 in 4-way Open on Sunday morning.
