Did You Know...

... that Gary Smith provided his brief evaluation near the boarding area?

Gary Smith observing NMP PCH HayaBusa at Skydive Teuge
posted Oct 27th, 2025 - Online technology has allowed people to follow events from all across the planet. Scores have been posted on internet platforms for a very long time, and videos were added to the services years ago, as well. The last feature was online communication, and the NSL News started using the Zoom platform for this purpose years ago.

The Zoom platform has allowed live online interviews that would be recorded and stored on the NSL server to make it available for reviews at any time. Gary Smith had already reviewed the competition videos on the InTime platform and was well prepared for NSL Live Talk.

The last conversations with Gary Smith were the one live at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 in Teuge, Netherlands, followed by the aftermath on Zoom when he was back home on the Island of Texel. He is in Qatar at the moment and was following the 4-way competition of the USPA Nationals 2025 very carefully. The new NSL Live Talk video features a different way how to bring an event and live interviews to the audience. In fact, this time the NSL News brought the event to Gary Smith, as the recording camera was set up close to the boarding area where the 4-way Open Class teams were on their way to the next competition round.

Golden Knights in action over Eloy

Some of the 4-way Open Class competitors and world champions stopped to greet Gary Smith during the NSL Live Talk session (Michelle Karamon, Niklas Hemlin, Josh Hall, Doug Barron, Craig Girard, Aethers Lille, Jennifer and Matt Davidson Door BlockerZ), while the Qatar and former HayaBusa coach enjoyed a glimpse of the competition atmosphere from Skydive Arizona in Qatar.

The conversation turned back to the athletic part of the event every time after the short and friendly interruptions. Gary Smith confirmed what the scores on the leaderboard were stating clearly. Arizona Airspeed did not have enough time to get to the performance level of the Golden Knights who won the U.S. qualification duel by 29 points.

Gary Smith said that Airspeed's impressive start into the competition with the sole highscore in Round 1 was probably a coincidence and a typical Round 1 situation. Each team has favorite blocks and sequences that happen to fall in place to Airspeed's liking in the first round of the competition. The reality of a new lineup and the well trained Golden Knights 4-way team in their third year caught up with the home team quickly. The U.S. Army team took the lead over Airspeed in Round 3, then never looked back. Gary Smith said that NMP PCH HayaBusa were especially impressed with the Golden Knights in Round 5, and he added several points to his own evaluation that is now available for the interested audience.
