Did You Know...

... that the team number is up to 50 on Sunday morning?

Weather on Sunday morning
posted Oct 11th, 2009 - More teams have been signing up for the 2009 USPA National Skydiving Championships this morning. The number of teams is around 50 at the moment.

Not much more is happening at the dropzone this morning. The weather forecast has been more accurate than anybody would like it in this case. Heavy rain this morning, wind and clouds - it is not the best situation a day before the first round of the competition, but that's just the way it is.

The competition draw will probably be handed out at 6 PM, as Eric Boyd mentioned earlier. The teams may study and prepare the first rounds of the meet better than usual. In the worst case, the first round could be the last one. Everything seems to be possible this week, and it makes it even more thrilling and exciting in a very special way.

Weather at the World Meet 2006
Teams are not really trained and prepared for shorter meets. It is always the main goal to master the complete dive pool and be familiar with everything. Of course, the same counts for each jump, no matter which sequence is coming up next. However, the dynamics can change when a meet is shorter.

There are examples of high-profile meets, like the world meet of 2006 in Germany, where tension was rising and some unknowns came into the game plan when the weather situation interfered with the competition. The NSL News will try to collect more feedback from teams and competitors.

It is still only the day before the official start of the competition. The topic of possibly a shorter meet, or even lower jump altitude, which is also an option supported by the rules, may not come up if the meet begins with blue skies tomorrow morning. It is time to add some more teams to the database. Come back soon...
