Did You Know...

... that VTSD combines talent with meet experience?

Results of the Intermediate Class poll
posted Oct 12th, 2009 - The NSL Poll for the Intermediate Class competition has been removed now, as the first scores have already been posted. The teams that were listed and expected to be some of the top contenders have lived up to these expectations in Round 1.

VTSD and Spaceland Mamba were two of the three listed teams in the poll, and they are on the top of the Intermediate Class leaderboard after the first round. Perris Jimani, the third team, has not made the first jump yet.

The Virginia Tech College team is already three points ahead of the pack after the 12-pointer in Round 1. Mamba has outscored all other teams with the 9-pointer for the same round.

Virginia Tech team VTSD
It is an interesting fact that VTSD is by far the busiest AA/Intermediate Class team of the 2009 season. Doug Barron (Outside Center), Joey Coffineau (Inside Center), Andrew Happick (Point), Ben Worrall (Tail), with James Sides on camera, attended six meets before coming to the 2009 USPA National Skydiving Championships.

They competed at three meets of the Carolina Skydiving League this year, one meet of the Virginia Parachute Council and one of the MidAtlantic Skydiving League. In addition, they competed at the Paraclete windtunnel competition in June. Talking about competition experiences...

Perris Jimani kills the bad weather time
VTSD was obviously ready for the final challenge at the USPA Nationals 2009.

The situation is similar for the team in second place, Spaceland Mamba. The team attended four meets of the Texas Skydiving League, and the competition practice pays back for Mamba, too.

It seems as if it will be very difficult for the other Intermediate Class teams to keep up with college team. Round 1 has not even been completed yet, and other top contenders, as Perris Jimani, will still try to get close. The 12-pointer in Round 1 was still a very strong statement.
