Did You Know...

... that 45 points is the new world record?

Scott Smith and Dan BC comment Round 6
posted Oct 14th, 2009 - It happened as it was expected. The world record fell. The whole dropzone operation was interrupted, and meet director Scott Smith invited the crowd to the viewing area in the hangar. He commented the judging of the seven highest ranking teams and their performances in Round 6 together with Dan BC.

The show peaked when Spaceland Force XK scored a 45-pointer after a 1-point deduction. This was the new world record. Airspeed was the last team in the judging loop and still had the chance to tie the score or go higher. Airspeed completed 45 points in time, lost the exit point and ended up with the team's second 44-pointer this year.

Andy Delk had a cutaway after Round 6, and it took a while until Airspeed was back at the dropzone. The NSL News camera captured the whole drama around Round 6, and the video will be uploaded later. Congratulations to Spaceland Force XP, the new world record holder.

Time has come for Round 6

The scores of Round 5 are almost complete, and it is really time to get ready for the Round 6 challenge, for the teams as much as for the audience.
Sequence of Round 6 - Graphic by CamScore
The NSL News created a new poll yesterday to see what the audience thinks about the potential for a new world record. Arizona Airspeed, the reigning world champion, is expected to score higher than 44 points. But the other teams have similar chances, as it looks. There is not much doubt that it will happen if three world class teams are going after it. Airspeed’s Craig Girard mentioned earlier that the score for this round could go up to 50 points...
Results of the world record poll
The current official world record for a single round is 44 points. Two Russian teams own it, Black Cat and Extreme.RU.

They scored it in the same round at the Malevsky Cup 2006. Airspeed tied it once at this year’s World Games in Taiwan. The 44-pointer will most likely become history today.

The Open Class teams will be called to the planes for Round 6 very soon. The judhes are still working on the missing scores for Round 6.
