This features was not available when the NSL News visited Russia for the Malevsky Memorial Cup 2005 coverage. Actually, the NSL-TV program does not allow at all to show more than one round of any event. Last year's NSL-TV coverage featured all ten competition jumps of the meet, round by round. However, many of the ten rounds could not be viewed by audiences at distant locations on the globe.
There is a time difference of eight hours between the NSL headquarters in DeLand, Florida, and the competition site in Stupino, approx. 70 miles south of Moscow. When the competition rounds of the morning hours were shown on NSL-TV, it was in the middle of the night on the east coast of the USA. It was even more difficult to watch NSL-TV on the US west coast. It was not much easier for many other interested viewers from all over the world.
Of course, it requires much more space to store the very large amount of video files. Thanks to Randy Romero, a former Superfly member and team mate of current Fastrax member Billy Andrews, the additional space became available. Randy Romero offered free storing space at his own currently unused website.
The storing option allows the NSL-TV to leave the video files of earlier rounds on the server, and they can now be viewed whenever earlier rounds of the meet are of any interest. The currently running or last round of the meet can still be seen by clicking on the little icon besides the score for the round. The additional footage of earlier rounds is available on the special NSL-TV Malevsky page.
Last year's jumps were uploaded while the videos were dubbed in the judging room. Most of the times, the NSL-TV files were available for the first viewing even before the scores for the same jump were posted. Unfortunately, it did not help much for the skyleague.com visitors who could not see them in the middle of the night.
This year, the video files are being uploaded with a delay. However, they remain on the server and will be available at later times. Scores and videos will be posted at the same time and complete a round's coverage. NSL News stories, pictures and interviews will be added at any time.
Quick update: 8-way is over for today, five rounds have been completed. France still has the lead, however, Airspeed reduced the distance to one point in round three. Rounds four and five did not change the situation although Airspeed had the best round five. The US team completed 20 points within working time. A lost piece grip and a bad inter following the flaw reduced the score to 18 points. The 4-way teams are now in the air for the fourth round.
