Did You Know...

... that Airspeed missed the world record by a few points?

Dallas Rogue prepares for Round 1
posted Oct 15th, 2009 - Airspeed's 27-pointer has already been posted, which means that the Golden Knights will keep possession of the world record. That is the case only, of course, if Paraclete XP does not score higher. Brian "BK" Krause, team captain of the Golden Knights, said that his team did not get close to the world record level.

In the meantime, another video made it up to the YouTube server successfully. The NSL-TV camera captured scenes of the dropzone this morning, the first day of the 8-way competition. It is kind of "Reality-TV", as the camera has no real plan and records whatever gets in the way.

This time, Dallas Rogue members were caught during their own warmup exercises in the morning. Rodney Cruce and Brian Stephens were busy playing some computer games in the DZ Cafe. The NSL-TV camera also found Spaceland Blue member Becky Brocato, who is recovering from her knee surgery. She will be back in action at the beginning of next year. Sally Hathaway filled in for her at the 2009 USPA National Skydiving Championships.

New hunt for a new 8-way world record

Watch out, 8-way fans, the next most exciting event is coming up. There is a chance for another chase of the standing world record, this time in 8-way.

The 4-way competition already featured a new world record, posted by Spaceland Force XP.

Round 4 has a sequence with the potential for scores that could get very close to the standing 8-way world record, the 31-pointer scored by the Golden Knights at the World Meet of 1997 in Turkey.

8-way sequence for Round 4
Arizona Airspeed in the hunt for a world record
The French 8-way team got very close to break the oldest record for a single round at last year's USPA Nationals in Eloy. The 30-pointer in Round 8 was only one point short of the 12-year old record.

As in the 4-way Open Class yesterday, there are three 8-way teams that have the potential to score high enough. Arizona Airspeed is fully aware of the potential in Round 4, even though the team is not well trained. It is a golden opportunity, and the competitor's blood will probably automatically give it the extra effort. Round 3 has been completed, and the next hunt for a new world record is coming up very soon.
