Did You Know...

... that NSL-TV features two Airspeed bloopers?

Steve Nowak's perspective in Round 8
posted Oct 16th, 2009 - Round 10 brought another surprise for Arizona Airspeed, this time in 8-way though. The NSL News uploaded the video of Round 8 in 4-way already earlier. It was the first blooper where the world champions had too deal with a little mental challenge right at exit time.

Videographer Steve Novak climbed out for Round 8, Tail Mark Kirkby and Center Outside Craig Girard followed. All of a sudden, Craig Girard climbed back in and signaled Mark Kirkby to come back too. Andy Delk had abandoned the climbout after signals from the pilot and the other teams in the plane. However, Steve Nowak was still out there wondering what was going on.

Airspeed finally realized Steve Nowak's position and simply climbed back out, set up for the exit - and delivered the highscore for the round. This all happened within seconds, and this kind of distraction control is probably one of the reasons why Airspeed is the world champion. Steve Novak provided the video right after the jump. He was laughing...

Airspeed collision in Round 10
The blooper of Round 10 in 8-way is even more entertaining, although it was painful for the Airspeed members. Block 6 (Star - Star) turned out to be an acrobatic freefly adventure for John Hamilton. He and his piece partner Dennis Rook were in the middle of their block maneuver when Craig Girard came around the corner with full strength and full speed.

The impact was even painful to watch, and Craig Giarard said that he could feel the pain. John Hamilton flipped over, the piece lost its grip connection, and it was time for recovery. John Hamilton was back in his slot in a second, and the rest of the team had moved on in the meantime as nothing had happened. Of course, everybody had seen the accident.

Airspeed then moved on, and the jump got even better. The old and new 8-way champion still beat the Golden Knights by two points in this round and would have tied Paraclete XP's 20-pointer without the point deduction for the broken grip. Here comes the video of the collision.
