The Round 5 show begins with Ranch Delivery, the team that finished on the very bottom of the Open Class field with a 7.4 average. David Gifford, Ivan Kaczor, Mario Mauro and Veera Ronalter put the team together only for the fun at the USPA Nationals 2009.
Ivan Kaczor was a member of the national top team Ranch Air Traffic (RATs) years ago. Mario Mauro trained and competed with DeLand VNE in the 90s.
Mario Mauro and Veera Ronalter will soon compete against each other in a completely different format. They are in different lineups for the Kaleidoscope Dives 100-way competition at SkyQuest 2009. Veera Ronalter is a member of the Kaleidoscope Falcons, while Mario Mauro is competing for the Kaleidoscope Eagles. The complete 100-way lineups will be posted later today.
As the Ranch Delivery members warmed up in 4-way for their main event in the 8-way Intermediate Class, the LOL members warmed up for their main event, the 16-way competition, where Deguello has been home for many years.
Then the audience has the opportunity to watch the second half of the new US national team in 8-way, the Golden Knights, competing in 4-way. The Golden Knights Black lineup consists of Justin Blewitt, Joshua Coleman, Michael LaRoche and Lawrence Miller. Matthew Acord was filming the team.
The new US Army team captain said that Kirk Verner was very valuable in preparing his 8-way team for the USPA Nationals 2009. He thinks that it would have been much more difficult to get where his team ended up without Kirk Verner's help.
The young lineup will now train for the World Meet 2010 in Russia where they will face the French 8-way world champions of the past four years. They have to hold the start of the preparations for two months, as the whole team deploys for army services in Iraq next week. Skydiving training will resume in January 2010.
The competition season is not over for Nick Grillet yet. He surprised his father, Sandy Grillet, the passionate Northen Plains Skydiving League director for years, with a ticket to Florida. He has lined up a 4-way team for his dad that will compete in the AAA Class competition of SkyQuest 2009.
Sandy Grillet has never competed in the AAA Class. He and his son Nick competed together for NPSL team Microburst in the A and AA Class. More information will follow with the SkyQuest coverage.
