Did You Know...

... that the NSL News reports live from the SDC Rhythm XP tail tryout?

SDC Rhythm XP lineup of 2009
posted Dec 11th, 2009 - The NSL News has a special treat for the 4-way fans and probably especially for the SDC Rhythm XP fans. The story on 23 October 2009 broke the news that three of the team members were making plans for the next step up in the team career. Rhythm was now looking for a new member in the tail slot.

The story on 12 November 2009 followed up on the same topic and confirmed Rhythm's efforts to fill the open slot. Additional information of the plans for the near future showed that the Midwest team from Skydive Chicago is planning to make it to the top level of 4-way competition.

Then it was time to commit a new Rhythm Tail, and the three returning members (JaNette and Steve Lefkowitz, Rob Radez) scheduled a tryout weekend after selecting three candidates: Thiago Muradas, Nick Grillet and Samer Haija.

DeLand candidates on the road trip this morning
Today is the official tryout date, which takes place at the Paraclete XP wind tunnel in Raeford, North Carolina. The NSL News decided to join Thiago Muradas and Nick Grillet on the trip from DeLand to Raeford when the Rhythm members and the candidates gave permission for the documentation of the event.

The tryout project of the new 4-way shooting star in the USA offers a new and different storyline for the NSL News. The coverage will include videos of the team flying with the candidates, and the first live interview during the first meeting of all Rhythm members and candidates has already been uploaded.

Rob Radez, JaNette and Steve Lefkowitz have already discussed the plans with each candidate extensively by phone and e-mail. Now they will discuss the plans for the 2010 season and the following years face to face and then fly together for 30 minutes in turns. Plan is to select the team's new tail on Saturday and then start with the training soon.

Thiago Muradas, Nick Grillet, Samer Haija
Thiago Muradas has trained and competed with Sebastian Tempest in 2008 and 2009. Nick Grillet has spent two years with Elsinore BTE on the west coast. Samer Haija, the founder of the Colorado Skydiving League, trained and competed with Arizona Directe and then Spaceland Directe in 2007 and 2008.

Kirk Verner has been coaching and supervising SDC Rhythm XP in 2008 and 2009. He is at the tryout site and will assist the team with his advice and experiences. Arizona Airspeed has held many tryouts over the years to find new team members.

Live interview with team members and candidates
It was interesting how the two candidates from DeLand discussed the whole situation with each other. Thiago Muradas and Nick Grillet are both trying out for the same Rhythm tail slot. The conversation was still very open and relaxed. There does not seem to be any competitive attitude between all three candidates.

Samer Haija had his interview first, Nick Grillet will be second, Thiago Muradas finishes up. After a short break, the flying sessions will begin.

Rob Radez, JaNette and Steve Lefkowitz have a different competition draw for each candidate. The NSL News will follow the action and capture enough footage of the flying sessions for the audience.
