The story on 2 December 2009 followed up with a video of Christy Frikken's NSL Talk. The videos of the missing rounds six to ten have now been uploaded and show how the situation took a turn at the beginning of the second half.
Jimani was up by three points after Round 5 on Saturday. However, another round was still completed, and the NSL Talk with Christy Frikken, Jimani members Jim Earman and Brian Sawatsky, plus Teiwaz Eagle's Ed Ganley, took place at the end of the day and after Round 6. Teiwaz had just won Round 6 by two points, and it was now a 1-point race still to the advantage of the California team.
Round 8 brought the next twist. Teiwaz funneled the exit and lost the meet, while Jimani mastered the technical sequence with a solid performance, took back a 2-point lead and never gave it up. Both teams scored 14-pointers in the last two rounds, and the 2-point lead was the winning edge after ten rounds.
Teiwaz Eagle had original team member Kurt Gaebel, plus two other Teiwazies in the lineup who had already competed for Teiwaz before, Mario Mario in the Tail slot and Point Bob Schindler.
He and Kurt Gaebel had also been team mates for the DeLand VNE 4-way team at the USPA Nationals 1995, together with Rob Larsen and Richard "Rambo" Calledare. They had already had another VNE reunion with Teiwaz at the February meet of the Florida Skydiving League in 2002.
Teiwaz Point Bob Schindler competed with Sebastian Tonic at the same time when the original Teiwaz lineup (Mary Inhoffer, Pamela Geoffrey, Mark Stose, Kurt Gaebel) was formed in 1999 and then won the Advanced Class competition at the USPA Nationals 2000 in Perris. He joined Teiwaz at a few meets years later when Tonic had already disbanded and Teiwaz was open for all 4-way fans.
He used to train and compete with Solidair, a 4-way team from Ohio, in 1992 to 1994 and won the 8-way Intermediate Class gold medals with the 8-way team Intercept at the USPA Nationals in 1996. Kurt Gaebel was the player coach for the same 8-way team. Ed Ganley said that a recent conversation with Kurt Gaebel and a day of blue skies over his home town inspired him to accept the Teiwaz inviation.
He made travel plans to DeLand and sent his gear to master rigger Terry Pike who checked it out and got it ready for acton. Then he came a day early to make a few solo jumps and a 2-way with team mate Kurt Gaebel.
Eventually, Teiwaz Eagle and Perris Jimani were both ready for the 4-way action and began with the battle on Friday afternoon. It turned out to be a very fun competition with an exciting race for the upper hand at the same time, just the right combination for the last 4-way event of the 2009 season.
That counts actually only for outdoor competition. Mario Mauro and Teiwaz Falcon member Jim "Bu" Klinge still did not have enough for the year. Both competed again at the indoor competition at SkyVenture New Hampshire.
