Did You Know...

... that Jim "Bu" Klinge can't get enough of 4-way competition?

Teiwaz Falcon at SkyQuest 2009
posted Dec 21st, 2009 - The NSL News story on 3 December 2009 included the videos of the first five rounds of the AAA Class competition between the PD Ninjas and Teiwaz Falcon at the NSL Championship 2009. The same article featured the special story of Sandy and Nick Grillet, father and son in the Ninjas lineup.

Nick Grillet came back into the NSL News spotlight just a few weeks later when he was trying out for the SDC Rhythm XP Tail slot. He did not make it, however, just a few days later the NSL News could follow up with a story that introduced Nick Grillet's new team for the 2010 season, the Speedy Kids from Elsinore.

It is now time for the missing five rounds of the AAA Class competition at SkyQuest 2009 that Teiwaz Falcon won with a 15.0 average after ten rounds.

Teiwaz roster of 61 members
The Teiwaz Falcon lineup was a new combination of Teiwaz members who have been competing at several meets of the Florida Skydiving League and other meets over the years. Jim "Bu" Klinge (Center Outside, Teiwaz #30), Rodney Cruce (Center Inside, Teiwaz #33), Robert Chromy (Tail, Teiwaz #15) and Bob Byrne (Point, Teiwaz #18) once again put the final lineup together a few days before the meet and used the first few rounds as warmup jumps.

The Teiwaz members of the currently 61-roster usually get together whenever a meet comes up and enjoy the meet day of a 4-way competition without previous training. Slots and competition class are usually decided upon by phone and e-mail prior to the meet or on competition site in the morning.

Ed Ganley became the latest Teiwaz member (#61) when he joined the lineup that competed for Teiwaz Eagle in the AAA Class competition at SkyQuest 2009.

Teiwaz Falcon in action
The Teiwaz lineups at SkyQuest 2009 included a few of the earlier members. Eagle's Center Outside Kurt Gaebel (#4) was in the original lineup of 1999. Mario Mauro (#8) came in when Teiwaz turned into a less committed project and had new 4-way fans joining the lineups frequently.

Robert Chromy and Bob Byrne competed for Teiwaz for the first time in 2004, with different lineups at different meets. Jim "Bu" Klinge and Rodney Cruce have entertained themselves with various Teiwaz lineups in the past years when they did not have their own more serious 4-way projects.

Robert Chromy had his 4-way outdoor comeback after a shoulder surgery earlier this year. He was grounded for quite a while to give his shoulder enough time to get ready for serious 4-way competition. He picked up his coaching work and tunnel training several weeks earlier and just staid away from 4-way competition until his shoulder was completely healed. He said that he had no problems after the ten rounds with Teiwaz Falcon.

Jim "Bu" Klinge with Bu Defiance...
Jim "Bu" Klinge is a passionate 4-way fan and performs on the highest skills level. He simply cannot get enough of 4-way training and competition. Unfortunately, his work agenda makes it difficult for him to commit to more serious 4-way team projects. However, he and Rodney Cruce have now teamed up with Michael Biederman (Teiwaz #60) and prepare a training and competition plan for the 2010 season. The 4th slot is still open at the moment.

Bu could wait for only two weeks after his ten outdoor rounds with Teiwaz Falcon before he needed his next 4-way fix. He competed with former Mass Defiance members Ben Liston, John Silva and Brian Stephens for Bu Defiance at the SkyVenture New Hampshire indoor competition.

But the ten rounds in the AAA Class competition were not enough for him and his indoor tem mates. He also guided Rookie Class team Perfect Storm through the additional 6-round meet as a player coach, together with 4-way and 8-way veteran Scott Latinis from Texas.

... and with Perfect Storm
The first six rounds of the three AAA Class teams at the indoor competition in New Hampshire were already uploaded with the NSL News story on 15 December 2009. The missing four rounds have now been added and are available for reviews.

The NSL News will hopefully follow up soon with new information of Bu's 4-way team project for 2010. Nick Grillet and Thiago Muradas both had this team in mind, as well, when they were traveling to Paraclete XP for the Rhythm tryout. Both have now already committed to their new teams. Maybe the third Rhythm candidate, Samer Haija, will get in touch with Bu's Florida team.

In the meantime, Teiwaz continues to be open for any 4-way fans who would like to enjoy a day of 4-way fun at any time and any meet and without too much preparation...
