Christy Frikken (Perris Moxie), Chris Farina (Perris Stun), Josh Hall (Perris Cobra Kai) and Uli Stuewe (Perris Blue Ice) were coaching and jumping with four different 8-way teams at the USPA Nationals. Two of them competed in the Open Class and another two in the Intermediate Class competition. Josh Hall's Cobra Kai won the gold medals in the Intermediate Class.
Four more lineups of the Perris Fury Project competed in 4-way, all of them in the AA/Intermediate Class. The NSL News found meet videos of each of the 4-way teams, provided by CamScore, which can be reviewed in the following video, and it begins with Fury's best round of the meet.
Christy Frikken eventually competed with the Jimani lineup when the strongest of the Perris AA/Intermediate Class lineups added the NSL Championship 2009 as the last event of the year to the team's competition schedule. The NSL News covered Jimani's visit at SkyQuest 2009 in DeLand with several stories.
Jimani had finished with a 9.8 average and in 7th place at the USPA Nationals 2009, four points behind the bronze medal position after ten rounds. The lineup with Christy Frikken followed up with an 11.7 average at the NSL Championship 2009 and won by two points over Teiwaz.
Jimani had attended all four meets of the Southern California Skydiving League this year before the USPA Nationals and ended up ahead of the other Perris Fury Project teams. Matrix competed in July (7.7) and August (8.0) while 4Shock joined the August meet in the AAA/Open Class (10.2) before competing in the AA/Intermediate Class at the USPA Nationals.
The 10-round meet in Texas was the first 4-way competition for Blue Ice this year. Nathan Halprin, David Harper and Andre van Heerden also competed with the Blue Ice 8-way team without 4-way player coach Hannah Betts.
The program includes the usual 4-way and 8-way lineups, which vary between stronger and lighter commitments. The Fury members are helping with networking and recruiting. The activities include an interesting "Pops vs. Pups" event in June where age of the team members are a part of the game plan.
Other than that, the Perris Fury lineup will continue to go after the 4-way top spot in the USA. Valentine's Meet, Shamrock Showdown and World Challenge will be the first three events where Fury will challenge Arizona Airspeed once again. Perris Fury has another busy and exciting season coming up.
