Did You Know...

... that Incognito Leutkirch has a new linup for 2010?

Chicas preparations in Dubai
posted Jan 8th, 2010 - The Dubai Championship 2010 is currently getting most of the attention for a good reason. However, other information still continues to flow into the NSL News headquarters. The situation of the German 4-way teams in the female category caught the NSL News attention once again, and there is even an indirect connection to the events in Dubai.

The story on 4 January 2010 covered the female 4-way competition in Dubai. The German national team Chicas, silver medal winner at last year's World Cup in the Czech Republic, competes in Dubai and has a new team member. The same story provided more details.

The other German top contender in the female category, Incognito Leutkirch, bronze medalist at the World Cup, was mentioned in the same story: "The situation in Germany is interesting, as the bronze medalist of the World Cup 2009, Incognito Leutkirch, has disbanded. There are no new plans yet of the young team members. However, it is difficult to imagine that the German shooting star in the female category is done."

It did not take very long until the NSL News received better and up-to-date information. Incognito is already back and has new plans for the 2010 season. The three returning team members, Sarah Hajooze (Point), Anne Heinrich (Tail) and Pia Weingart (Center Inside), are joining forces with Susa Serra.

This is the point where these news connect with the competition in Dubai. Susa Serra was a Chicas member until the end of the 2008 season. She took a year off to travel the world, and Nina Kuebler filled her slot for the Chicas.

The NSL News found a video of the Shamrock Showdown 2008 where Susa Serra competed in the Point slot for the Chicas.

Incognito Leutkirch with Gary Smith at the World Cup
It seems like the exciting duel between Chicas and Incognito will continue in 2010. The Chicas are already qualified as the German national team for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010. However, the young Incognito lineup is looking more at the 2011 season as the next goal, which brings the next qualification for the World Meet 2012 at the German Nationals.

Susa Serra is now taking the open Center Outside slot. The new Incognito lineup has already trained at the German wind tunnel in Bottrop in December and has plans for a quite busy 2010 season. Coach Gary Smith filled in at the first indoor training with the new team member, as Center Inside Pia Weingart was busy working on her medical career in Hungary at that time.

The first outdoor training camp is scheduled for 30 January - 7 February in Spain. Incognito will then compete at the World Challenge 2010 and bring another German team to the competition in Bedford for the first time.

Friendly German rivalry continues
Incognito will probably compete at the ESL Championship 2010 since the Chicas are traveling to Russia and compete for Germany at the World Meet 2010. The ESL Championship 2010 will be the most relevant international high-profile competition in Europe this year.

Susa Serra told the NSL News that the plans for 2010 will be finalized at the upcoming training camp in Spain. She already confirmed that Gary Smith will work with the team throughout the 2010 season. She also said that there will be no changes of the slots for the returning team members, as she fills the open Center Outside position.

The connection to the Chicas in Dubai will surely not be the last time that the NSL News will cover the continuing friendly duel between Chicas and Incognito. It will be an indirect rivalry for most of the 2010 season though. The Chicas will make the first move this week in Dubai.
